Summary: Leigh and Krisis make up for lost time
________

Bridgeport, present day...
Three days after Jacqueline’s memorial service and still no word from Krisis, Leigh decided to take matters into her own hands.
“You’re leaving?” Eloise glared at her, and then at the pizza box in her hand. “I thought we were going to watch a chick flick. It’s chick flick Thursday.” She pointed out, and Leigh smiled guiltily.

“I totally forgot-I have to see Krisis. There are things-” She didn’t finish her explanation, Eloise waved her off.
“Go!” She mumbled in between bites of her pizza. “Please get it right this time. I have to be a bridesmaid and an aunt soon!”
“I hope so,” Leigh answered as she dashed for the door.
On her way to the lift, she passed her brother.

“Are you coming back at all tonight?” Devon teased, winking at the overnight bag on her shoulder.

“Just go see to your baby mama please,” she growled at him affectionately.
She was still amazed at his change in attitude where Krisis was concerned. It seemed her leaving Bridgeport had made him realize what was important, and that included giving her a break about Krisis.
She drove her old car like a demon, ignoring every rule in the traffic book. She knew she’d get a nasty surprise in the mailbox soon, but she’d gladly pay the speeding fines.
She had to fix things. Get Krisis out of his slump. They had been through hell and back, and there was no way she would sit by and let him push her away.
She let herself in, and found him resting on the couch, with Lily sleeping peacefully on his chest. He motioned with his free hand for her to be quiet; he didn’t want Lily’s nap to be disturbed, it would take her a long time to put her back to sleep again. He carefully rose from his position and went upstairs to put his daughter in her crib.
“What’s going on?” He asked curiously when he came back.

“You tell me, Krisis Frost. You’re avoiding me, and for the life of me I don’t know why!” She replied, holding his gaze, trying to read the guarded look in his eyes. But she knew it was pointless. He was very good at concealing his emotions. She’d learned, very quickly, that the blood bond wasn’t everything it was made out to be. Krisis let her read only what he wanted her to know, and sometimes she understood his reasons, he was trying to shelter her, didn’t want to worry her. But she just wished he’d stop treating her like a fragile piece of fine China.
“I’m not avoiding you. I’ve just been busy that’s all. I’m adjusting to parenting Lily alone. The band…We’re cool Leigh; you have nothing to worry about. I love you,” he replied, but she wasn’t sold on his explanation.
“You know you don’t have to parent Lily alone! I’d like to be in her life, and help you raise her. And please don’t insult me. Do you honestly expect me to believe things are fine between us? I know they aren’t! Since your meeting with the Council you’ve been pushing me away, and I don’t know what I did. Why can’t you tell me what they said? Don’t you see I love you and you shutting me out hurts?” She screamed at him.
The tears shimmering in her eyes nearly damn well killed him and he wished he could take back the lies and start  over this conversation on a clean slate.
“You’re right. I’m sorry.” He apologized. But she pushed him away this time when he tried to reach for her. The walls around her were up and he knew it would take him a while to break them down.
“The Council spared my life. But I have a year to turn two humans to restore balance, and replace the two vampire lives lost at my hands.” He began chipping away at the walls she’d built around herself.
“I’m sorry this turned out to be so confusing and messed up, and I wanted to tell you about the Council’s ruling, but I didn’t want to worry you. You’ve been through a lot lately,” Krisis carried on, not discouraged by her angry silence.

There was still a lot he didn’t say. She didn’t have to know the Council had suggested he should turn her, or that he should have kids with her. Those were things he would never say, things he would never entertain…Especially with her.
“We’ll fix this,” she murmured, wrapping her arms around him.

Krisis held her tightly in his arms, making a silent vow not to let her go again. How he’d gone through the past few days without her was still a mystery to him. He’d missed her terribly, and he wanted her in his bed every night, morning, every hour of every day…Forever, really
“When do you turn me? If you turn me now the transformation will be complete in three days,” Leigh suggested sensibly. “And we can start on getting Lily a little brother or sister. The council will be pleased. And I’ll be thrilled. We’ll all be happy! Everyone wins!”
“No! This isn’t your problem Leigh. I’m not turning you! Not now at least and it’s FINAL!” He barked, but his voice immediately softened when he caught the scared look in her eyes. “We said in three years remember?”

“We don’t have three years!” Leigh replied stubbornly.
“Give me time. Please. Devon and Eloise have to get used to the idea too. That’s why we agreed to wait,” Krisis added.
He was right and she couldn’t argue with that. They couldn’t suddenly spring this on Devon. He would freak out, not before he killed Krisis first though. On the other hand they were running out of time…
She forced her mind to remain a blank sheet, forced herself not think about everything else he’d said. She’d leave that for the safety of her room.

But there was something she couldn’t hold off on any longer. She tilted her face up to his, and reached for his lips; she kissed him greedily, taking her fill, roaming her hands all over him, and all the while praying Lily wouldn’t wake up.
It wasn’t long before they were sprawled on his bed, making up for the past few days. Lily, the good girl she was, cooperated.

  1. I almost missed this! Val, I wish you could have felt the way the grip on my heart released when he told her the ruling! I'm not even mad that he didn't tell her what they suggested! At least he told her that much! This is the beginning! If they can keep doing this, being open and honest then I'm willing to bet money they will be just fine!

Love how she suggested they get started on giving Lily a sibling! Love how she TOLD him he doesn't have to raise Lily alone. He is such a man for even thinking he would when he has her by his side! Sure the pain of her being Jackie's will always be there but she also belongs to Krisis and the love she has for Krisis will always overrule the hate for Jackie.

Lovely Val! You did a wonderful job with this as always!

  2. Qui,

It was the tears in her eyes that did it. He hates seeing her cry. She should have just given him the tearful look right from the start. True, I'm also not mad he didn't the her the whole truth. Whatever he told her is a start at least.

As much as he appreciates having her in his life, he can't take it for granted that she'd want to be saddled with a baby, especially Jacqueline's for that matter, and that's why he's trying to adjust to parenting Lily alone. But now that she's voiced her desire to be involved in her life, it makes things a whole lot easier on them.

And Leigh's not subtle about what she wants. She'll have his baby, and he will turn her. Maybe not now, but she's pretty set on having her way with him

  3. I am glad he is eventually going to grant Leigh what she wants. It seems to make the most sense, because if I am understanding the situation, everything Leigh wants is what the Council wants.

  4. Three days Krisis? Really? You love the woman and in 72 hours time you couldn't spare a few of those moments to call the woman you love, the woman who loves you? P-uh-lease!

I am so glad that he told her the truth, it was the right thing to do. Now I hope that he begins to let her in more, especially where Lily is concerned, she wants to help raise Lily, he can't do it all alone...not with his busy life.

Leigh is absolutely right, he doesn't have to do it alone, they are a team and if their relationship is ever going to go anywhere meaningful they have to start working as a team.

    Excellent job.

  5. Oh....Leigh must now plot to do everything she possibly can to improve her chances of contraception. Even if she has to tell him that the doctor said she has little chance of getting pregnant which would make him put his guards down....I don't care!!

    =D

Lily....She, um, desperately NEEDS a sibling! She's grow up like my baby cousin who is spolit beyond belief and she'll ah...She'll never be able to properly socialize with other children of her age!

Yes. That little girl needs a sibling and FAST!

Im really happy Krisis finally told her the truth, and deicided to trust her fully. It's the only way to have a relashionship right?

Now all we need is for her to start hinting to Devon that she might become a vamp, and then after the immidiate NO WAY IN HELL she'll get from him, start convincing him that it's for the best...Seems correct to me! And then she can go to Krisis and tell him that Devon and Eloise are FINE with it and they can spend eternity swooning in each others arms.

    Sounds right to me!

    Fabulous chapter again!

  6. Seaweedy, I just love your comments. They are always short and to the point and make a whole of sense.
True, Leigh and the Council want the same things. So maybe they should all gang up on Krisis.
    Thanks for reading :)

  7. NyGirl,

Wow, I sense someone is highly pissed at Krisis. Run Krisis run. Run from the scary lady who wants to tear off your head because you didn't call Leigh. LMAO. Sometimes Krisis is not the smartest of men. But it doesn't make his feelings for Leigh any less. He just has a very Krisisy way of showing his love, I guess.

Yeah, sometimes the right thing to do is not necessarily the best. Now Leigh has her mind firmly made up. And honestly speaking, I don't know how much longer he can keep turning down her request to be turned. And you're right, being in the band, and a single father too is bound to take its toll on him.

    Thank you!

  8. Eni, I love the idea of Leigh plotting, and I can safely say this matter is not closed. She has put it off for now, until she comes up with better arguments/

LOL. Somehow the sibling excuse won't fly with Krisis, esp with his busy schedule with the band. So she'll have to be much more creative than that.

You and Leigh both. The distance between them was starting to do a number on her.

Yeah, about that talk with Devon....I don't see it ending well. He's just getting used to the idea of her and Krisis, and now the thought of Leigh becoming a vampire might just send him over the edge.

Thank you. It means a lot to me that after 80+ chapters you're still reading this. I appreciate all your feedback and encouragement.

  9. Nothing but the very final end could stop me reading!

  10. Krisis needs to stop worrying about Leigh so much. I understand she's only a human, but she's been through so much. She may seem quite fragile on the outside, but she's emotionally strong and I think she's stable enough to make the transition to the vampire lifestyle. The real reason behind my support on Leigh's transition.....I WANT THEM TOGETHER FOREVER!!!!!

Well now that that's out of my system....I find it funny that Leigh had the same idea the council did. I would love to see some Leigh and Krisis babies. I bet they'd be adorable! Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww..... I'm getting myself all worked up, haha. xD

  11. Aw Eni *hugs*
That makes me so happy :)

  12. brookeshire, I was wondering where you were :)

Yeah, Leigh is so much stronger emotionally and he does need to trust her more and be open with her. He'd be surprised at how much she can handle. LOL. I know, you've been rooting for her to get turned almost from the start. When it happens I hope it's something they can both live with and adjust to easily.

Hopefully you'll see the little vampire babies soon. If Krisis decides to finally give in, that is.

    Thanks for reading.

P.S. Did you manage to recreate your legacy?

  13. I am glad he at least told her about the verdict. Why he's still being stubborn about turning Leigh is a problem. he's just using Devon and Eloise as an excuse, even if he was right.
Looks like they took advantage of Lily's nap time ;)

  14. Baby steps, Holley. At least he told her some part of the truth. It's a start. But I'm so thrilled you caught on to that. He really is using Devon and Eloise as an excuse since he has no intention of turning her.

  15. I'm glad he finally told her part of the verdict.. why couldn't he just damn turn her already! Krisis is so stubborn - he has to turn her sooner or later. Glad Lily is being a good girl.. they sure missed a lot of quality time. Sure he has other priorities on his mind.. but couldn't he call her for help?

    Off to read more <3
