________
Bridgeport, present day...
“I knew it was a boy!” Devon punched the air as they left the hospital after their checkup. Every time the doctor did the ultrasound scan in the past, the baby was always positioned in such a way they could never tell the sex…until today that is.
He was ecstatic, and in his mind he was already making plans, coming up with activities he would partake in with his little boy.

He glanced at Eloise and saw the disappointed look on her face.

“What’s wrong?” He asked, concern evident in his eyes.
“I don’t know. I was kind of hoping for a girl. I would know what to shop for, and we would do lots girly stuff with Leigh and Lily,” Eloise explained. She knew it was silly of her to feel so disappointed, but she had been convinced they were having a girl, and she had secretly started buying clothes and stuffed toys for a girl. Now she had to return everything.
“Come on El, it doesn’t matter what it is, as long as it’s healthy, right?” Devon placed a lingering kiss on her lips before bundling her inside the car.
They took a leisurely drive, Eloise marveling at the wonderful colors on the trees all around them. Fall was her favorite time of year; and if they’d had a daughter, she’d planned on naming her Autumn.

“Where are we headed? I thought we were going home?” She mumbled when she saw Devon take a sharp exit off Route 66.
“Change of plans. I rented a cabin for the weekend. No work, no phones, just the two of us and our baby boy,” he grinned at her, before popping a demo tape from a potential artist into the car stereo.

“Yeah, no work, right?” Eloise mocked him good naturedly.
For dinner, Devon took her to a cozy restaurant up in the mountains. They dined on frog’s legs, and he ordered the best wine on the wine list.
“What are we celebrating?” She asked curiously as she took a sip of her wine, trying her damndest to ignore the dessert calling out her name. First the surprise weekend getaway, and now the best wine on the house.
“We are celebrating this,” he announced, as he got down on one knee and took out a ring box from his pocket. This time Eloise knew he was serious; it wasn’t a pretend ring box, and she got on her feet and squealed.
“Yes! Yes! I’ll marry you!” She shouted excitedly.
“Damn it Eloise. Don’t rush me. I want to do this right,” Devon growled at her.

“Okay, sorry,” Eloise murmured, wringing her hands, already imagining the ring on her finger.
“Ms. Jones, will you marry me?” Devon asked softly, gazing lovingly into her eyes.
“My answer is still YES, yes, and yes! I’ll marry you!” She replied. She blinked back her tears, but it was too late, one had already pushed through. She watched it fall from her cheek and drop on her outstretched hand; Devon gently kissed it away before placing the ring on her finger…

  3. This was such a beautiful and heart warming prompt.

I am glad that Dev took the time to propose instead of doing it right when she got pregnant!

The colors and the imagery was just breathtaking, excellent use of the prompt!

Poor Eloise got her hopes up and started buying girl stuff, that is why you always wait!

I know its a bit of a disappointment when you want one thing and are told another...but the bottom line is once that baby comes everything else will be obsolete. Can't wait to see the little one!

  5. Jenn,

I figured after all the drama between Krisis and Leigh, some good news were in order.

Yeah. If he'd done it then it would have seemed like he was doing it just cos she's pregnant and they have no other choice.

Thank you. I rarely use prompt words in the right context as you know. I just go with whatever takes my fancy. I'm so glad we don't get marked down on that or anything for that matter, otherwise I would have failed the challenge dismally.

She really was eager for a girl, but I'm with you, once the baby arrives, she'll be heard over heels in love with him. They'd better make another one soon after Blake, otherwise I foresee him being spoiled rotten by his parents and his aunt.

    Thanks for reading, always :)

  8. Leah, I'm sending some good vibes and warm hugs your way speed up your recovery. I don't like it when you're sick :( And I'm glad this cheered you up some.

I think you missed the Krisis and Leigh reunion update :-/ But take your time, no need to rush to get caught up. Rest and get better.

  9. Aww....That was soooo sweeeet! It was really adorable! I was kinda thinking it'd be a girl, but then again this way we can all start imagining their baby marrying Lily...That would be nice in my opinion!

Perhaps a little odd because his aunt would be married to his girlfriend father...But they wouldn't be related so I can't care less. It's totally adorable!

That update has made my day because so far it's been rather sucky.

The background and scenery work was gorgeous too. In my game I just never have any type of weather...I was wondering though, how did you get that rain last previous before this one prompt? Or did you use photoshop or something?

  10. Eni,

Wow, I never thought of Blake and Lily. Somehow I think both sets of fathers will not be thrilled with the idea of Lily and Blake together. But...You've certainly given me something to think about.

I'm happy this kind of brightened your day.

The weather, that is clouds, etc changes automatically in my game, sometimes it's all summery and other times it's gloomy. And the trees are all in game. I just threw them on the world and the hospital from "Edit Town" mode.

And the rain I got using the fog emitter. Here's the link. Hope it helps. Let me know if you need more clarity: http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=405544

    Thanks for reading.

I'll accept the congratulations on their behalf.
She is forward, and is not known for patience.
    They are.
I already put up pics of him in the thread. I think page 38 or 39. He's the spitting image of his dad.

  14. Karima,

It's great to see a comment from you.

Yeah, Dev and Eloise are great together. He really should have listened to his momma and went for good girls like Eloise from the start.

    Thanks for reading.
