Summary: Devon and Krisis break bread
________
Bridgeport, present day...
Leigh and Krisis kept the news of their pregnancy to themselves for as long as they could. They wanted to hang on to their secret for a little while longer. But after two weeks of walking around in a happy daze, Leigh’s burgeoning figure, and lots of questions from both sides of families, they knew they had to break the news soon. So they invited everyone over for dinner.
Krisis was singing softly to Lily, trying to put her off to sleep, while Leigh whirled through the kitchen, getting the dinner ready. It didn’t take long for Lily to fall asleep, and Krisis took her upstairs to her crib.
When he came back downstairs, he encircled Leigh in his warm embrace, and placed a possessive hand on her growing bump.

“So this is all real, there are two small Vampires growing in there?” He murmured, awe written in his eyes.
“Two little Frosts on board,” Leigh replied, leaning closer to him.
She greedily breathed in his scent, reveling in the feeling of warmth and safety his arms created around her. She felt like she was falling in love with him again as she gazed into the ocean in his eyes. Every time he touched her, every time his eyes fell on her, when he worshipped her body, she felt like a flower blossoming in summer’s rain.
He was the only one for her. She belonged to him, mind, body and soul. With or without the blood bond!

“You too. You’re the only for me,” he answered her thoughts.
“Get out of my head,” she grinned up at him, but her smile soon changed to a frown.

“What’s wrong?” Krisis asked when he saw the worry in her eyes. He wondered if she was “thirsty” again.  She fed from him every two days, and snacked on plasma fruit and juice every day. Her voracious appetite still surprised him. But the doctor had assured them, during their first appointment, it was normal since she was carrying twins.
“So the babies will be able to read my thoughts too? Can Lily read my mind?” She asked. The thought had just crossed her mind.

Krisis laughed, and she slapped his arm gently.
“It’s not funny, Krisis. Seriously though, can she? Will they?” She glared at him.
“Of course not,” he chuckled. “Remember when we first met, Michaela was going through her transformation, and it’s only then her abilities were awakened. You have sixteen years of privacy to look forward to.”

“That’s a relief!” Leigh replied sarcastically.
“If it makes you feel better, I’ll teach you how to block your thoughts.”
Before she could take up his offer, their doorbell rang, and he went to answer it.
“Mickey Mouse is here!” Krisis announced when he walked in hand in hand with Michaela, an awkward looking boy following closely behind them.

Michaela rolled her eyes at the nickname. He was the only one who called her that and got away with it.
“Don’t you think I’m too old to be called that?” She smirked at him.

“Too old to be Mickey Mouse? Not a chance!” Krisis ruffled her hair affectionately, but his steel gaze was still fixed firmly on his niece’s boyfriend.
Leigh smiled at the young man, and Michaela shook her head furiously, silently letting her know the guy wasn’t Jett Atkins, and she shouldn’t make the mistake of addressing him as such.
“Darling, I’m, glad you could make it,” she pulled her in for a hug.

“That’s Leo…He’s like you. And I think I’m falling in love with him,” Michaela whispered for her ears only. Leigh understood what she meant by ‘He’s like you’. Leo was a mortal.
Introductions were made all. Krisis kept glaring at Leo. Leigh knew then and there if they had daughters, any boy who dared to come close to them would have an angry father on his hands.
A little while later, the bell rang again, this time Leigh went to answer it. Both Eloise and Krimsyn squealed as soon as she opened the door, leaving J.D. and Devon bewildered. They didn’t get what the screaming was about till Eloise let the cat out of the bag.

“You sly devil, you’re pregnant!” She screamed, hugging Leigh close to her.
“Yep. Twins! When Krisis does something, he really goes overboard!” Leigh announced with a hint of humor in her voice.

Krimsyn immediately wanted to feel her tummy, gushing over how big she was already.
Krisis came to the door when he heard the commotion. Congratulations were offered before he ushered everyone inside.
JD and Krisis made their way to the bar to prepare drinks, while Krimsyn gave Eloise a tour of the house. It was the first time she and Devon were there.

Devon declined to join them, choosing instead to spend some time with his sister as she got the last of the dinner ready.
“Are you happy with him, Leigh?” Devon asked seriously.
It was obvious where Leigh and Krisis were headed. He wouldn’t be surprised if they announced they were getting married. In fact he’d even begun to mentally prepare himself for it, just like he was slowly preparing himself for vampire nieces or nephews. But there was one thing he would never make peace with, and it tied his stomach in knots just thinking about it.
He forced himself not to dwell on unpleasant thoughts. Leigh was ecstatic, and getting into an argument with her over being turned wouldn’t do…

We’ll cross that bridge when we come to it, he told himself, smiling at Leigh.
“Yes, Dev. Krisis makes me happy.” She replied, putting the final touches to the table.
“Good, I’m glad!” Was all Devon would say on the subject. For now…
Dinner was a relaxed affair. For once there was no animosity between Krisis and Devon. The men talked about music, something very close to their hearts, apart from their women of course.
Michaela and Leo had eyes only for each other, and as soon as they were done with their meal, they asked to be excused.

“No touchy-feely business,” Krisis warned the two teens when Michaela led her friend upstairs under the pretext of showing him the huge fish tank she’d told him about. Leo had an interest in all things aquatic, and he wanted to be a marine biologist after school.
A large part of the ladies’ evening was spent discussing all things babies. Eloise loved being pregnant, and she was sad it was coming to an end any day now. She did express a wish to have another child. Leigh was okay with the twins and Lily, but if Krisis wanted more, she was more than willing and able to give him more. Krimsyn, unfortunately, did not share their sentiments. She’d done gone through a fair share of diapers with Michaela and Lily, and now it looked like she’d have to go through it again, with Eloise’s little boy, and Leigh’s twins, so having more of her own was out of the question.
“Oh God!” Eloise cried suddenly, a pained expression on her face. Leigh and Krimsyn were instantly on alert.

“What’s going on?” Krimsyn asked, as she knelt by her side.
“I think my water just broke,” Eloise replied in a small voice, watching a puddle form around her feet.
The next five minutes were a blur as everyone ran around the house, either screaming orders or just screaming from pain and fear.
The furore drew Michaela and Leo’s attention but they quickly made their way back upstairs when they saw the chaos.
“We need to take her to a hospital,” Krisis was the only calm person in the room.
It took another five minutes for everyone to calm down long enough to pile up in their cars and follow Eloise and JD to the hospital, by then Eloise, plagued by labor pains, had hurled every cuss word she knew at Devon, who, good naturedly, didn’t take it personally. Michaela and her boyfriend preferred changing Lily’s diapers over the hospital’s waiting room…

  4. I can't wait to see the baby! What a perfect time for her to go into labor. LOL!
Krisis is too funny. He seems more worried about Michaela's boyfriend then her own Dad!
Looks like Devon is never going to be okay with Leigh wanting to become a vampire. At least he seems open minded about his future niece and nephew.
