________
Bridgeport, present day...
The ride home from the hospital was tense. Leigh didn’t feel inclined to make conversation and Krisis was grateful. Just as well because he wouldn’t have known what to say to her.

They’d talked some at the hospital and Leigh had agreed to move in with him. It made sense since Eloise was very close to giving birth. She and Devon wouldn’t have time to look after her. Besides, he wanted to be hands on in their pregnancy and make sure her every need was catered for.
It had sounded so simple when he proposed she should move in with him, but it wasn’t until now, in the deafening silence inside the car, that the gravity of the situation hit him. He was about to be a father…Again. In a space of a few months he’d have three kids. And a wife…
Now was probably a good time to start thinking about quitting the band, and focus on his family with Leigh. When it was all said and done, and if he was honest with himself, there was no way he could juggle everything. He was barely coping with Lily alone in his life, three kids was suicidal.
He looked at Leigh, sitting quietly beside him. He loved her. Really he did. But lately it felt like his life was spinning out of control. He was so many things at once, so many people he had not imagined he’d be a year earlier. Things were moving too fast, too soon.

“I’ll quit the band.” He opened the conversation. Leigh remained silent, but he saw the brief look of worry dance on her face before it vanished as quickly as it had appeared.
“Don’t do me any favors please! I’ll be fine. Eloise and Devon will help, so you don’t have to quit the band!” Her words threw him off when she finally spoke and a surge of anger passed through his body. He pulled the car to the side of the road.
“What do you want from me Leigh? What do you want me to say? What do you want me to do?” He growled harshly, jamming his hands on the dashboard.
She jumped out of the car, and slammed the door hard; the cool, morning air in her hair and face was a welcomed relief.
She felt stronger, more in control. And she knew it had to do with his blood. He’d made her feed from him just before they left the hospital. And the babies were satiated for the first time in almost two weeks since her weird cravings started.
Leigh knew he wouldn’t let her be; his door opened seconds later. It wasn’t long before they were caught up in a screaming match on the side of the road; their first ever serious argument and they were too far from a bed to stop it before it grew into something ugly and hurtful. And so they had it out, and both hoped they’d live through it.

Accusations were passed around. Resentments were announced. Feelings Leigh had no idea Krisis had, because he did them so well, even with the blood bond, were suddenly dumped on her.
She felt like the ground was slipping from underneath her feet. Just when she needed him for support, to steady her, to keep her on solid ground, he was letting go. Whoever said pregnancy was a joyous blissful state lied…BIG TIME.

“I had no idea!” Leigh shook her head sadly. “No idea you felt I’m stifling you!”
“That’s not what I said. You’re not stifling me. I just said things are moving too fast too soon, and I need a second to breathe that’s all. Jacqueline’s just died. Beau is on the loose, and you are his target, and I have to keep you safe. I was facing death not too long ago, and I have to turn two people into Vampires within a year. Then there’s the band, and Lily too, and now we’re pregnant. It’s all too much Leigh. Excuse me if I’m not acting like superman!” He snarled, kicking his tires; Leigh felt the car literally shake at the force he applied with his angry kicks.
“I’m sorry your life is so fucking unbearable! You shouldn’t have come to Barnacle Bay. You should have left me alone!” She screamed back at him.

“And let you marry Jesse? You’re out of your mind. I love you damn it. I love every inch of you. I just need to get my bearings straight!”
“Well hurry up and get your bearings! These babies are on the way. I need you. Lily needs you. The band needs you. And you’re quitting shit Krisis Frost, do you hear me. Shit is all you’re quitting! And if you’d turned me when I asked you to, the Council’s decision wouldn’t be such a burden. We are expecting twins so that should sort out your problem about turning two people since you find the idea of turning me so repulsive!”

And it went on, and on and on until Leigh decided to end the madness.
Fuck Krisis Frost. He’ll find his way home! She thought as she got behind the wheel of his car and sped off, leaving him on the side of the road.
At his house she was grateful to find the front door unlocked. She let herself in, and ran herself a bath. For a while she sat crying in the bathtub.
She heard him come in moments later, and she was glad she’d locked the bathroom door, but she knew if he wanted to come in, he’d break it down.
An hour later she dragged herself out of the now cool water. She threw on an old outfit of hers she’d left at his place a few weeks before, and made her way downstairs to get plasma fruit. Krisis wasn’t fond of the stuff, but he still kept it in his fridge. Thank heavens for that. She thought. At the way she was feeling, she wasn’t about to beg him for his blood.

As soon as he saw her, he scooped her in his arms, and held her close to him.
“I’m so sorry,” he kept saying over and over in her hair, and she kept right on crying. “Leigh, I need you to tell me what you want, and I’ll do it. I don’t want to lose you. I love you. You and Lily are my life, and now the twins. I can’t bear to be without you, and I won’t. And I’m sorry I’m making you cry. I don’t mean to.”

“I just want you to be present, with me. I can’t do this alone. I can’t do this if you’re half in. And I don’t want you to quit the band because you think that’s what I want! I get you’re scared, I am too. But we’ll figure it out. Stop over thinking things because it makes me panic too.” She told him gently, taking his lips in hers. They kissed for a long time, but soon Leigh grew restless. She wanted him, inside of her, ASAP.
“We can’t,” Krisis murmured, gently pushing her away.

“Yes we can,” Leigh insisted, trying to pull his shirt over his head. Oh she was going to have him, no two ways about it. She knew it was safe to make love.  Judging from Eloise’s happy screams in the middle of the night, she and Devon were still doing it, as far along as they were in their pregnancy.

“But the babies-”

“They’ll be fine. Shut up and make love to me,” she gave him a naughty smile, before kissing him again. And he was putty in her hands. He couldn’t say no.
His lovemaking was tender and gentle, and it reduced her to tears.
Much, much later, Leigh was ravenous, and Krisis made her a late lunch. She gagged a few times when she took her first few bites of the plasma fruit French toast. But once she got used to the taste, it went down well.
Leigh was exhausted, but she forced herself to stay awake. It felt great having him in bed, beside her, with his strong arms encircling her, she'd missed him when he was in Riverview. They talked for a while, Krisis explaining his fears about the pregnancy, and the risks Leigh was facing. It wasn’t that he wasn’t happy with the pregnancy because he was; he was afraid of losing her if something went wrong.
“Hey, we’ll be fine. You heard what Dr. Sloane said; the babies are great; their heartbeats are strong,” she caressed his cheek gently, trying to erase his fears.

“I know they’re fine. It’s you I’m worried about. You’re carrying Vampires Leigh; I don’t know any human who’s ever carried vampires before, and I don’t know what I’m dealing with. And I’m sorry I’ve put you through this.”

“Don’t be silly. I want this. I want your kids. And I’ll be fine. Besides the stress of changing Lily’s diapers, and hollering at Michaela to do her math homework, I’m virtually stress free.” She put a firm stop on the subject.

After the media furrow over Jacqueline’s death, Krimsyn and JD had asked Leigh to resume home schooling Michaela and she’d gladly accepted the post. She was killing two birds with one stone, teaching Michaela and bonding with her niece and step daughter. She had the greatest job in the world.
Leigh steered their conversation in another direction and they began planning their life. The first order of business was for Krisis to inform the Council they were expecting; one huge weight had already been lifted off his shoulders. He wouldn’t quit his job. Leigh, Lily and Michaela would tour with the band. And they would hire a nanny for Lily and a housekeeper for the general upkeep of the house when they were in Bridgeport.

“See, it’s all so simple when you stop over thinking and start planning,” Leigh smiled up at him.

“Yes it is,” Krisis agreed, kissing her nose tenderly. He needed her in his life. She knew how to keep him centered…

  1. I can't express how happy I am that they talked this out instead of letting it fester! They both needed to get these things out in th open for their sanity!
I laughed SO HARD at the shot of Leigh eating! Krisis' face! She looked like she was mauling that sandwich and he looked scared! LOL
The end of this prompt made me love them even more! I'm glad they have each other!

Council? That means Thorton? *happy claps*

  2. Qui, yes they did and now that they have, they are well on their way to being a boring married couple. LOL.

Yeah, the sight of her eating like that must have scared the hell out of Krisis. But she can get away with it since she's eating for 3.

Me too, what would they do without each other!

There are other members of the Council :)

    Thanks for reading!

  3. I loved how she stood up to him and he realised how wrong he was. At least they are going in the right direction.

  4. LOL! I love how she left him at the side of the road.

Men! They pride themselves on their logic and when things turn to shit, or they think things turn to shit, they get irrational.
Krisis is right, he needs Leigh in his life.
I am glad they got it all out in the open and the problems seem to be resolved.

    Great update Freedom.

  5. lckygrl1975, yeah, I guess the vampires growing inside her are making her bolder, she won't stand up to his crap. True, now that it's all out in the open, they are moving towards a good place. Thanks for reading, and leaving feedback :)

  6. Holley, for some reason, I like it when you call me Freedom, LOL!

Loved that scene too. If only he wasn't a vampire, he would have felt that long trek home :D

Def, he does need her in his life. He tends to get emotional and illogical sometimes.

    Thanks for reading!

  7. I've been MIA for the past couple entries, but I am back and ready to comment. A lot has happened in a matter of a few months and I'm sure a lot is bound to happen in the next couple of weeks, especially with Tamsyn and Beau running around. I'm really excited for the vampire babies and I hope that Leigh can get through it without harm, even though I highly doubt that. Krisis seems to be under a lot of stress, but like Leigh said, freaking out doesn't do anything. A happy ever after seems so nearby, but knowing you Val, something evil is lurking just around the corner. :) xo

  8. How wonderful that they worked it out. (after she ditched him! Lol!)

Now that his head is screwed on straight, he can focus on just enjoying this time. (and keeping Leigh safe from Beau - gone, but not forgotten!)

It makes me SO happy to see them talk it all through - I don't think I've ever rooted so much for a couple to make it!

  9. you ALWAYS take such amazing shots! that first one is just wow!
poor krisis. he has so much to take on now. id be ready to jump off a bridge if i were him...not that it would have much of an effect on im. lol
its sweet that they can work out their kinks. i can only imagine the fear that they have because not one but TWO babies are soon to be born. im wondering if that will really please the council... hmmmm
    great entry!

  10. Brookeshire, it's always great to hear from you. You're right, there's still much that will happen because Tamsyn is on the loose. I wouldn't worry so much about Beau. He's really keeping a low profile. If Leigh takes care of herself and Krisis makes sure her cravings are satisfied, the pregnancy should go well. Yes, he is under a lot of stress, he's feelings the pressure from everyone, and he just needs a little time to adjust to the many people that he is now.
I love happy ever afters, and you're right, it is so nearby, too bad only a few will get it at any given time.
    Thanks for reading.

  11. Jill, I'm glad they didn't let it grow into something bigger and ugly.

Yes, this is a wonderful period in their life, and they really should enjoy it. Once the twins arrive, their lives will grow quite full. LOL at that remark on Beau. He's definitely not forgotten.
With you rooting for them, I bet they'll make it.

  12. Sweetdreams, thank you. I try :)

True, he does have a lot on his plate, but stressing doesn't help. He needs to balls up and take it like the vampire he is.
I think so too. I'm thrilled they are at a place where they can work things out. It is a scary period, esp for Krisis because he knows if anything can go wrong it will. Leigh's just taking one day at a time. The birth of the twins should please the Council. Having kids with her was one of their suggestions/

    Thanks for reading.

  13. Ugh...I really wish Jackie were around to see this one...Krisis and Leigh having twins...would make her doubly crazy...

I love the intensity between these two, how they can fight like cats and dogs, yet make up at the drop of a dime!

I am scared enough for both of them...I have four kids and I can barely keep up sometimes lol.

Krisis needs to take a chill pill...so does Leigh for that fact. All this stress isn't good for Leigh or the twins!

  14. I'm glad that Leigh and Krisis are sorting things out after their blow-up.
Both of them need a chill pill .. i don't want it to end up like Leigh's parents.. doubt that would happen ;)

    Off to read more <3
