________

Bridgeport, present day...
Five hours after the Chief of Staff broke the news of Dr. Jacqueline Steinberg’s gruesome death, her colleague and friend, Dr. Alison O’Hara was still locked away in her office, gazing outside her window, rocking herself back and forth, unable to understand the calamity that had befallen the medical community.
She glanced at the ominous file on her desk, and a deep sense of foreboding settled in her gut. But once again she was tempted to take a peek, find out what secrets it held…
Three months before the birth of her daughter, after one of her many blowout fights with Krisis, Jacqueline had stopped by Alison’s house, distraught and in tears. She’d handed her the file, and asked her to hang on to it. If anything happened to her, if she died suddenly or mysteriously disappeared, Alison should take the file to the Vampire Council headquarters in downtown Bridgeport and hand it over to a William Thornton; he’d know what to do with it.
Alison remembered asking what was in the file, and Jacqueline had cryptically replied, “Pandora’s Box… all the evils of the world are in there. For your peace of mind, don’t look at it.”
Alison had taken the file of course, thinking her friend was just being her usual dramatic, attention seeking self. For months she forgot about it, never thought of it until today, until the chief of staff’s announcement.
Curiosity got the better of her, and she hastily dashed from the window and grabbed the file
“Goodness!” She gasped, and fell hard on her seat. She closed her eyes quickly, along with the file, wishing she could erase the images of Ashleigh Starlington. But she knew the horrid bite marks on the young woman’s neck, arms and breasts, the bruises all over her body would be with her forever.
She knew she was going to be sick, but she was too far from the door. She wouldn’t make it to the ladies’ room in time. Instead, she reached for the trashcan under her desk, and dropped the contents of her lunch inside. For what felt like hours she retched and gagged over the metal container.
“Dr O’ Hara, are you okay?” Staff Nurse Newton called on the other side of the door. “You don’t sound too good.”

“I’m fine.” Alison forced herself to sound cheerful. She didn’t want anyone budging into her office, and witness the mess she was in.

“I’m sorry for your loss. I know you and Dr. Steinberg were very close.” The nurse offered on her end. Alison let out a small smile of relief when she heard the nurse’s footsteps retreat.
She reached for a tissue from the box on her desk and wiped her mouth. She took another one and dabbed at her forehead, and eyes. Her hands shook violently as she reached for the file again. This time she braced herself for the contents, and she wasn’t too shocked when she stared at the images again.
For over an hour, she read Jacqueline’s detailed notes, all the while thinking none of it was real, Leigh’s kidnapping, Krisis killing Vladimir Schlick, and his family cleverly concealing it as arson. It sounded too farfetched, too dramatic; like the stuff movies were made of. Like some big fucking conspiracy theory. If it wasn’t for Leigh’s pictures, she would have thrown the file away, and forced herself to forget about it.
Amidst the detailed notes and gruesome images, there was a hand written letter, addressed to the vampire council...Alison recognized Jacqueline’s penmanship. Her friend fully accepted her role in the death of one of their own, and she’d documented all her spats with Krisis, and every single threat he’d ever made at her was noted too.
It was obvious from Jacqueline’s statement that Krisis Frost should be the number one suspect if anything happened to her. He’d threatened to kill her on more than one occasion. He resented her for falling pregnant, and he thought she was complicating his relationship with his human. He obviously wanted her out of the way so he could be free to raise their daughter with Leigh. Krisis had motive, and the means.
Finally, Alison pushed away the file and the letter, and leant back in her chair, wishing she hadn’t opened Pandora’s Box. Jacqueline was right; she shouldn’t have looked at it. Now she knew more than she wanted, more than she was supposed to…

  1. 1.Is Krisis getting whatever happens in this case?

2.Is Jacqueline making it seem like Krisis killed her instead of Beau.

3.If he goes to vampire court call me I'll be his lawyer and I bet I'll win, I have solid evidence... >:).

4.Beau, I'm coming for you. Let me at him, Let me at him. This is too much, it's spiraling out of control... I'm even more curious, now to what happens next...:)

  2. Oh hell no! That sneaky bitch is laughing from beyond the grave! Krisis has to have some kind of proof that he was and still is out of town at the time of Jackie's death! There is no way in hell he can go down for that! I don't know this Alison but I want her to go away.

  3. Leah,

    1. This is all unfolding mere hours after Jackie's death, so at this stage he doesn't know what's going on.

    2. Jacqueline had no idea Beau would come after her. But Krisis did threaten to kill her lots of times before, and he killed Vladimir, an ancient vampire, so she did believe he'd come after her. The file and the letter, were just insurance on her part, in case she suffered the same fate as Vlad, and her death is concealed. She had no idea things would spiral out of control.

    3. Who? Krisis or Beau? LOL. Krisis does have a lawyer, you'll see her in the next few prompts. But Beau can use some pro bono representation :)

    4. Yes, everything is coming undone now.

  4. Qui, she was an ancient vampire, crafty and slippery so her collecting data shouldn't come as a surprise especially to Krisis, after all she did the same with Leigh's file, taking shots no one knew about. And she is laughing...even in death, she still causes chaos.

Her death part he'll be cleared easily, but it's the other stuff coming to light he should be worried about. The file document everything, including Vladimir's death, and that's what Krisis should be worried about. The VC didn't pursue the case because they wanted to believe it was arson, but if this info comes to light, they may quickly change their tune.

  6. "Curiosity killed the cat."

This quote was running around in my head as Dr. O'Hara looked at the files. I have this sinking feeling that she just involved herself in something that she could have easily avoided. As far as the files contents, I was pretty shocked that Jackie wrote those things about Krisis. It's not very surprising that Jackie would leave with a big, bitchy bang.

I guess this means more complications for Leigh and Krisis. I feel so bad for them! They can never catch a break. I'm sure Krisis will be delighted by the news of Jackie's death, but probably not the fact that he is being blamed for it.... or the fact that she documented Leigh's injuries and Vlad's murder.

Can't wait to see what happens when they return home. (:

  7. ~ Oh I do not like the events that are unfolding before my eyes right now! Jackie was less of a threat alive than she is dead, I knew I didn't want her to die! Now look what can of worms has been opened.

~ Krisis is going to have to take the fall for Beau's actions now...but then again it is karma biting him in the ass for getting away with Vlad's murder. But for it to go down like this won't be justice!

~ Surely there has to be some evidence on Jackies body that will link Beau to the murder...no one is ever that careful!

~ I do not like this one bit! (not in a bad way, I love it really I do, just not how it is all about to go down for Krisis.)

  8. Eni

LMAO. That's Jackie, always causing trouble.

Not sending the file to the vampy head guy will work out great for Krisis, but Alison made a promise to Jackie and she has to do the right thing by honoring that promise.

There will be consequences, but let's hope they aren't that DIABOLICAL!

Thank you Eni :) For you, I will keep it up. LOL.

  9. Brookeshire, indeed it killed the cat.

And you're right, she was better off not knowing, and now she had to involve herself in something way bigger than her. She did fear for her life, and she did exagerate some things, but that was her way of screwing him over even more, to make sure he doesn't end up with Leigh, either way.

It does complicate their life on a grand scale. He'll be thrilled. If it was up to him, he'd probably thank Beau for taking care of the problem. That's true about the contents of that file. He won't be pleased by that at all.

If only they could stay a little longer in Barnacle Bay :0

  10. LMAO, Jill. That would be nice, wouldn't it?

  11. NyGirl,

True, that's the point I kept trying to make, now that Jackie's dead, it's all about to go up in flames. It was better for Krisis having her alive. Her death has started a chain reaction that will end badly for a lot of people.

If the file ends up at the VC headquarters, Krisis will have more than Beau's actions to worry about.

You're right, Beau wasn't worried about being careful, he's out to get even, and he knows he'll get caught, and he almost doesn't mind that too, but he'll be caught after he's caused a whole lot of mayhem. Krisis should be more concerned with the detailed info on Vladimir's murder.

I know what you mean, but it's like you said, Karma is a bitch. Krisis, doesn't live in a lawless world, where he does what he wants, when he wants. He's not a child, and he's about to learn everything has consequences. That one moment when he was blinded by rage, could cost him everything now.

    Thanks for reading.

  12. I have a hard time believing Jackie had a friend! LOL!!!
First off, all the posing and CC in this chapter was AWESOME! So jealous!

I foresee really bad things coming from Jackie's meticulous note taking to safe guard her safety. She was so worried about Krisis hurting her that she has inadvertently set him up for taking the fall for this, even though he is completely innocent!
I agree with Jill, she needs to be killed again! LOL!

  13. Holley. LOL. She did and her friend is about to come through for her.

Thank you. Lots of hard work to get her to pose like that.

You're right to be concerned. That file will def open up a can of worms. True, she had no idea what impact her note taking will have on everyone, not just Krisis.

LMAO. If only that was possible.

  18. WTF :/
I have no words to express just how much of a bitch Jacqueline is. She couldn't have been more wrong about who her murderer would be.
Hope she burns in vampire hell >:( Over and over again.
