Eloise kept her promise to Devon and stuck to her weekly appointments with Dr. Reddy, the therapist he had found through a friend.
For the first few sessions though Eloise didn't say much. In fact she didn't say anything at all, she was just content to lie on the couch and stare at the ceiling while the doctor scribbled pages and pages of notes in her thick notepad.
"What are you afraid of?" The doctor asked in that calm ‘I can wait forever’ tone of hers during their fifth session.
Eloise simply snorted, and brushed off the question. But the doctor's words had hit home. She was afraid of opening up about her grief only to end up revealing too much about what she’d become. She didn’t trust the doctor to be accepting of her condition, didn’t trust her to keep it to herself either. She knew how Devon felt about Vampires, surely he’d leave her the moment he learned the truth. She couldn’t lose him. Couldn’t lose her son either.
The following week, while on her way to see Dr. Reddy, Eloise had an epiphany. She didn't have to talk about her other self if she didn't want to. No one had to know about the darkness she carried; if she worked hard enough at it, her grief and the monster she’d become could be two unrelated issues.
Once the realization hit her, it was easy for her to talk about her father and tap into the emotions she'd hidden for some time now. Every session after that felt like a breakthrough, and Dr Reddy was impressed with the progress she was making.
On two occasions Eloise felt comfortable enough to have Devon sit in with her during her sessions. He, too, was impressed with the overall positive changes he'd noticed in her.
Soon though, with her grief out of the way, Dr. Reddy wanted to focus on her ‘episode’ as they'd come to refer to the day she came home naked a little over a month ago.
Eloise refused to talk about that day. She assured Dr. Reddy and Devon it was a onetime thing. But it was a blatant lie since she'd transformed three more times after that. She remembered the moments before the transformation, but nothing about what she did when she was in wolf form.
When Dr. Reddy suggested hypnosis she flat out refused, bringing an end to her sessions with the head doctor. It wasn't hard to convince Devon she didn't need therapy anymore; after all he'd seen a vast improvement in her general wellbeing.
Now that she wasn’t seeing the therapist, Eloise found she had time to visit the library and research the monster she’d become. But the large medical volumes and history journals didn't give her the answers she needed and for the first time in her life Google let her down.
Her obsession with tracking the man who'd turned her into a monster began soon after her library visits failed to give her closure. But her evening jogs proved to be fruitless. He was never at the beach where they met, and his scent was growing fainter with each passing day.
Eloise's search wasn't the only one that had come to a standstill. William Thornton's trackers had not made any progress. By the time they’d gained access to the crime scene at Waylon’s Haunt, it was so severely contaminated they couldn't pick up the wolf's trail. The fact that there had been no road kill since then complicated matters even more.
Thornton, on more than one occasion, found himself wishing the wolf would just slip up already. He desperately needed to turn things around with the Council. Since the humans were blaming Vampires for the attack at Waylon’s Haunt, he was getting a lot of heat from the higher ups to fix the mess before it became a Class A catastrophe…

Eloise should tell Devon the truth.
ReplyDeleteThornton should continue his hunt and hopefully he will come across the person who changed Eloise instead.
The doctor sessions were great:)
She"d love to tell Devon, but knowing how he feels about Vampires, she can't take that chance. And I agree about Thornton, and I love your thinking about the other wolf. We'll see though who he finds first.
DeleteThanks for reading.
Eloise's fear about Devon not taking the werewolf thing well is definitely founded. I am afraid too that he would leave with their baby. But, maybe being closer to vampires now, he might react differently. It's a hard call for her. Her memory loss is frightening. I hope she finds the wolf who did this to her before Thornton and his crew do.
ReplyDeleteToo short, I need more more more. Loved it. :)
Fae,
DeleteYeah, knowing his history with Krisis, El has every right to be a little hesitant about telling the truth. The memory loss us scary, but it's not so much as a loss, she just hasn't made peace with her two selves, so she blocks out her memories in wolf form. It's more like suppression.
Lol, weirdly enough most of the remaining chapters are short.
Thanks for reading.
Loved this! I can't work out whether it was right for Eloise to gave held back with the therapist, or not. I'm can't work out whether I feel sorry for Eloise because she is so lost on what she has become, or Thornton because the vampire council are on his tail on the werewolf case. This chapter has made me confused, but in a really good way! I can't stop myself from asking questions and I cant wait til the next chapter! Sorry I haven't been commenting on Krisis chapters lately, I have been reading them - I promise! :)
ReplyDeleteSorry to leave you confused. But I'm glad it's confused good, and not the bad kind of confusion. Thanks for reading!
DeleteSo Eloise is aware she turns into a wolf but what happens in wolf form is still a mystery. It is sad that she fears losing Devon when he finds out. He's made progress in his view on vamps so that should count for something. He loves his nieces and nephew. He and Krisis even seem to get along. I think after he got over the initial shock and disbelief he would still stand by her side.
ReplyDeleteJaz,
DeleteYes, she was aware from the start when she first shifted in, the realization is what drove her to fly out of the window that first time.
Dev does love his nieces and nephew, and he's warmed to the vampires in general because of Krisis and the band. But whose to say how he'll feel about weres.
El would very much like him to stand by her.
How did she find out what she was?
ReplyDeleteI would like to hope that Devon and her's love could make it through this. Poor Devon; no more rose colored glasses - vampires and werewolves. Course I know it's been like that for quite a while for him, but it's about to hit the fan.
Thornton is scaring me, but my my does he ever look edible on that bed like that. >.>
She remembers everything, i.e. moments before she transforms and after she shifts back, and that's how she knows she can shift. She just doesn't remember what she does in wolf form. She knew from the start she's changing, she realized this in her bathroom that first time after the dog bit her.
ReplyDeleteYeah, let's hope their love does survive this.
Lol @your comment abt Thornton scaring you. I wonder why cos he hasn't done anything scary so far.
Thanks for reading.
Yeah, I figured that when I thought about it later. Duh. :)
DeleteAnd as far as Thornton scaring me... idk, He's just so powerful with all those resources that the likelihood of him catching El is high. That just makes me scared for her. The potential. *bites lip*
I'm glad you thought about it and you figured it out. The last thing I want is to leave readers confused. And thanks for getting back to me on that.
DeleteTrue, about Thornton's power and influence, it is scary.
~ William is looking quite good on that bed!*Wink!wink!*He looks like he belongs there!
ReplyDelete~ Just an idea,but don't Vampires have a keen sense of smell,Hmmm! I wonder!
~ I love that El has found a way to address her issues with out giving away any of her dark side!Clever girl!
~ Loved it,as always!(",)
~LOL, yeah, all he needs is Katie and he'll look even better.
Delete~ They sure do! And we'll see just how keen their senses are in the next update.
~Yeah, it was smart of her.
~ Thanks for reading, I hope you're feeling much better now?
I think it is right for Eloise to hold it back from the therapist, but not from Devon. He needs to know and whatever happens...happens. It's going to be worse if he finds out on his own. Also with Thornton looking for a certain wolf, it's best he knows of it and if she tells her dearest friends and family then maybe it gets back to him...otherwise I would hate to see the fatal misunderstanding that would happen because of a lack of knowledge.
ReplyDeleteAeon,
DeleteYeah, I'm with you on El holding back. She should confide in Devon, but I don't blame her either for not wanting to. She's seen his hatred for Vampires in the past. That's very true about fatal misunderstandings. They can easily happen.
Thanks for reading.
Val - Why do I get the feeling it's only a matter of time before Eloise starts asking wolf-related questions to Krisis? Or worse... Thornton? She won't be stumped forever, and it's only a matter of time before she begins searching for other information resources. All it takes is for anyone she knows to catch her during a transformation before things become chaotic. Looking forward to the next chapter.
ReplyDeleteIf she has to ask questions, she would def go to Krisis. She and Thornton are not close at all, so she wouldn't go to him for anything. And you're right, someone catching her during her transformation could be her undoing.
DeleteThanks for reading!
So heres what I'm afraid of.
ReplyDelete1) That the trackers will catch her and kill her
2)That Dev or someone in the family will find out. Since she has been keeping it a secret, if it gets out, it could cause this huge tidal wave of a shit storm. The family has been through so much i'm just afraid this would be someones undoing.
3)That she will lose herself, become so obsessed with what she becomes she will forget about all that's important to her
eh...I'm hoping not but still having a bad feeling....edenz~
Edenz,
DeleteEverything you've mentioned is a huge likelihood at this stage.
Thanks so much for reading!
Awesome, Eloise is doing better. She'd better tell someone and soon before she ends up with the vampires on her back.
ReplyDeletePixx,
DeleteYeah, she's doing much better. Thanks for reading.
I can understand why Eloise is becoming obsessed with the one who bitten her. I do wonder who he or she is. Another hot one? :P
ReplyDeleteI hope Dev finds out and Thornton doesn't catch her. I wonder what he would do.
I put up the wolfs on FB, you didn't see them? More on them in season 6. Thanks for reading.
