The wolf causing the Heads of the Vampire Council to lose sleep took her human form again behind Waylon's Haunt in the early hours of the morning. The transformation hurt as much as it had earlier when she assumed her wolf form and it seemed to take longer too.
"What the fuck?" Eloise screamed when she realized she was naked.
She looked around her, searching for anything to cover herself with. Her eyes fell on the green dirt bag propped against one of the dumpsters. She reluctantly emptied its contents and she was about to wrap it around herself when a couple left the dive bar through a side entrance.
Eloise quickly crouched behind the dumpster, waiting for them to move on. But they lingered, deciding what to do. The female wanted to call it a night, but her date wanted to party on.
Things between the two got violent quickly. Harsh words were exchanged and then the girl's cries followed amidst punches and kicks.
Every blow, every slap, every ugly word the girl endured drove Eloise deeper into her darkness.
She tried to calm herself when she felt the familiar fire in her veins. And when that failed she tried to prolong the transformation for as long as she could. The darkness though was stronger; it took over with no effort. Once again she found herself on all fours as she shed off her human skin.
Without pausing to think, she leapt out of the shadows and went straight for the couple. By now the girl was lying half-conscious in a pool of her own blood. Eloise showed the attacker no mercy as she ripped and tore into him...
______
Starlington/Jones residence...
"What the fuck happened to you?" Devon freaked out when Eloise walked in just after 4:00am naked as a new born baby.
When he got home from work and found their bathroom in a state and Eloise gone he'd panicked and called everyone he could think of. He even went down to the police station to file a missing person's report, but the boys in uniform couldn't help him since she wasn’t missing for 48 hours or more.
"I went for a jo-" The words were not even out of her mouth when she felt the ground rush up to meet her.
Devon caught her before she could hit the floor though.
"Hey, I got you," he scooped her up in his arms and to took her to their bedroom where he laid her gently on their bed. She smelled like...He couldn't put his finger on it. It wasn't a nice smell, but it wasn't unpleasant either.
"El, where have you been, I came back from work and you were gone. Where were you? Where are your clothes? Were you attacked? Did someone do this to you?" He fired questions at her rapidly and her replies were just as quick.
She didn’t know. She didn't remember.
"That’s not good enough!" he roared at her.
"Back off, Dev!" she screamed at him.
Devon felt like the wind had been knocked out of him when he landed on the door. It took a while for his stunned brain to realize Eloise had shoved him away. With little effort…
Shocked at what she'd done, Eloise ran out of the room and locked herself in the bathroom, and no matter how much Devon pleaded with her to open the door, she wouldn’t.
Confused and stunned by her rejection, Devon began tidying up the flat. He had the TV on while he washed the dishes, but the volume was low so he missed the first part of the news bulletin. If it wasn't for his cell phone buzzing on the coffee table, he would have missed the whole thing. As he turned from the sink to answer it, the gruesome images on the screen caught his attention and he turned up the volume.
Apparently the police were investigating a double homicide outside Waylon's haunt. The female victim had died from internal injuries. Evidence found at the crime scene suggested the boyfriend was responsible. Hers was a classic case of domestic violence. Authorities couldn't disclose the boyfriend’s cause of death until their investigations were complete. But the unlucky soul who'd discovered the bodies was telling anyone and everyone who’d listen that the bastard was mauled, possibly by a Vampire or a mountain bear.
Devon felt sick to his stomach and he couldn't watch anymore. "Serves you right, they did warn viewers the images were disturbing," he mumbled to himself as he picked up his cell phone and called his sister back, he knew she wanted a status update on Eloise.
He could hear the relief in Leigh’s sigh when he told her Eloise was home, and as expected she had a lot of questions he couldn’t answer, and he tried to shield them off as best as he could.
“I don’t want you to worry okay,” he assured Leigh for the hundredth time.
“But Dev…”
Before Leigh could dig deeper, he cut her off. “Kiss Blake for me, we’ll see you in a few days.”
He was still staring at the phone in his hand long after he hung up from Leigh, thinking about his fiancĂ©. He could no longer turn a blind eye on her erratic behavior. Something had to be done. And fast…

Wow...
ReplyDeleteThanks for reading!
DeletePoor Eloise. She is scared and confused and has no where to turn. Devon, poor Devon. He knows something is off but doesn't know what.
ReplyDeleteI pray she can get help before the council find her but the heat will be on more not that she's killed.
Jaz,
DeleteYes, true, killing wasn't a good move, Thornton may find her sooner than he thought. Or maybe not!
Thanks for reading.
Oh dear... she... those people... Poor Devon!
ReplyDeletePoor Eloise too, I hope this doesn't destroy her marriage before she knows what is/has happening/ed to her.
She's stronger now...
I'm a bit sad now...
JM,
DeleteAw, man, it wasn't my intention to make you sad. But yes, she's stronger now.
Thanks for reading.
Hmm that last paragraph sounds like after the news story he has figured out exactly what is going on. Hope they figure out a way to help her before it is too late.
ReplyDeleteDem,
DeleteI really think it was just seeing her come home naked that freaked him out. I don't think he's connected the dots yet. But he does plan on helping her. Thanks for reading!
Boy! I can't say I'm sorry that she killed that girls vicious boyfriend! I think he got what he deserved!
ReplyDeleteI wonder if she really doesn't remember anything or if she is afraid of what she remembers. I just hope this doesn't tear El and Devon apart!
I can't wait for more Val!
Daisies,
Deleteyeah, me too. And having been around Leigh's parents her whole life, I can understand why Eloise reacted the way she did.
That's a very interesting point you raise about her memory. We'll find out in a few chapters.
Thanks for reading.
I wonder how long it will take them to put two and two together. I hope El can control her transformations until then. Doubtful tho.
ReplyDeleteMostly... I was just distracted by Dev's hotness the whole time. I had to read some parts twice lol. :)
mypalsim1,
DeleteThat's an interesting question, it should be answered over the next few chapters.
LOL @ you being distracted.
Thanks for reading!
Eloise is scared and confused. I hope she confides in Devon, even though the thought scares me since he may not take it well. She needs someone. Why hasn't she turned to Leigh? :(
ReplyDeleteGreat update, awesome pictures and wonderful writing.
Fae,
DeleteThe thought of her confiding in Dev scares me too, I don't think it's something he'll handle well. All this is happening in a matter of hours, she's hardly had time to sit and process it. But she won't be turning to Leigh because in her mind Leigh will force her to tell Devon and that will just open a can of worms she's not ready to clean up.
Thanks so much for your feedback!
Ohh god poor elise! Its like michaela s deal all over again! Im really sorry for de on but concerned about the vamipre council! I wish she would just talk to someone despite what she must be feeling at the time. Im on an edge
ReplyDeletePd: sorry for the irregularity but ive been catching up on two 1D series so ive had no time
GirlyGirl
Delete*hugs* So good to hear from you!
And you know what, you're right, I didn't even think about the parallels/similarities to Eloise and Michaela until you mentioned it.
No worries, I understand, RL does get busy for all of us.
Thanks for reading!
Wow!! Amazing chapter :-) I have no clue how you get some of the shots you do it must take forever but they are so worth it! Well now the S*!t's really hit the fan hasn't it? A vampire being blamed for a werewolfs actions, hmmm can't wait to see where this is going.
ReplyDeleteAngie,
DeleteThank you! *blushes about the compliment on the shots*. In the beginning it used to take me forever, but now I'm used to the pose player so it's real quick. It certainly looks that way, and it's exactly what Thornton and Zahara were afraid of.
Thanks for reading!
I'm not sure if my computer ate my previous comment but feel free to delete if this is a duplicate post LOL
ReplyDeleteI feel so bad for Eloise, she must be so completely confused as to what is going on! And poor Devon, he's completely bewildered!! I am so glad she dispensed some much deserved justice but i can't help to wonder how hard the vampire council is going to come down on her now that the news report says it *might* have been a vampire. This is quite an exciting turn of events!!!
Kelly,
Delete*hugs*
Yeah, I got 3 comments from you, but I liked this one more so I kept it :)
She is confused and scared and shocked, not a good combination. Hopefully now that she's home Devon doesn't let her out of his sight. Agreed on the VC, they'll be more determined now to find "the wolf" since one of their own is being blamed for the attack.
Thanks for reading!
Finally Read this Val,
ReplyDeletePoor Eloise and Devon. That guy deserved everything he got. However she needs to tell Devon before he thinks the worse and totally misjudges the situation.
Great update :)
Thanks for reading Lckygrl, I hope you're feeling better? Take care!
DeleteIm sorry for the double comment but i was wondering how you managed to get so many readers , necause ive started a novel in spanish , bit i cant get people to read it!
ReplyDeleteLol, I wish I had many readers. Most of the people that I interact with are friends of mine on Facebook, I could add you to our little group and maybe you'd get more readers from there, but I'm not sure how many of them speak Spanish. And if I dis speak Spanish, or if your novel was in English, I'd definitely read it.
ReplyDeleteIf you're on Facebook, add me and I can add you to the group. Here's my profile URL.
www.facebook.com/valpres.simstories
You could also join Spanish forums or other writers groups, there must be some on line.
Good luck!
Val - I don't have much to say after reading this one, just "oh boy, here we go." Seems Dev & Eloise are just jumped on a wild ride with no clue as to how they'll be getting out of this one. Dev may have a hint after her return home & the news broadcast, but there's no telling what's going to happen once the cat's out of the bag. Well done, I look forward to seeing things develop.
ReplyDeleteI know Eloise is scared shitless but she needs to try and let Dev help her before something goes horribly wrong. And with Thornton having his heels dug in on this one in very well might before he realizes who it was!...edenz~
ReplyDeletePoor Eloise she must be going crazy. I would, but to be honest its so cool. haha
ReplyDeleteI wonder when Dev will really find out what happened to her. Going to the next chapter.
