Bridgeport, present day
Devon & Eloise's apartment...
"Krisis, is everything okay?" Eloise asked, surprised to see him.
She hadn't seen much of him or Leigh since Blake came home. They had become somewhat reclusive, hiding from the constant paparazzi. She'd lost track of the amount of calls they'd received from reporters, authors and TV stations, all promising to make them famous, as if they weren't already famous and Blake Starlington wasn't still trending on Twitter two weeks after his return.
"Is Leigh around? Can I talk to her please?" Krisis asked, peeking over her shoulder.
"She's not here," Eloise replied, wondering what was going on with them.
"Did something happen?" She knew Krisis wouldn't open up to her, he was fiercely guarded and private, but she thought she should ask anyway.
As expected, he shook his head. He didn’t want to talk about it, and he didn't want to come in either. He left, but not before he begged her to let him know as soon as Leigh showed up or made contact with her.
"Was that Krisis?" Devon asked just as she closed the door behind her. He'd just finished giving their son a bath.
Eloise told him it was. He grilled her. He wanted to know what the vampire had wanted. When she explained Leigh was MIA, she saw the brief look of anger flash in his eyes, and she knew his truce with Krisis was over; their old feud was on again.
"Look, it's got nothing to do with us, it's just a little tiff and they'll sort it out," she tried to appease him as they settled on the bed to read with Blake.
Devon smiled, a sign he was okay. But the angry look still in his eyes told her he wasn't. She wouldn't push it though. She had enough of her own shit with Tamsyn, who was yet to be tried because her pit bulls were pleading temporary insanity on her part or schizophrenia, or some such nonsense!
Eloise fell back on the bed and propped her head on Devon’s lap. His voice and Blake’s laughter, as comforting as they were, didn’t erase the sudden frustration she felt towards Tamsyn’s impending hearing.
She didn’t care who said what, in her opinion, and she was convinced in the minds of a lot of people as well, the piece of shit woman was guilty. Everything she’d done was cold and calculated, changing her identity, getting fake papers and coming up with her well executed plan to destroy them; there was nothing insane about that! Tamsyn knew what she was doing when she did it.
Eloise stared up at Devon, her heart squeezing a little when she thought of what she’d almost lost because of his ex. Knowing Tamsyn might not serve any jail time for the heartache she’d put her family through, burned her. She wanted justice. And there’d be none if Tamsyn was sent to the loony bin. None at all…

Outside Devon’s apartment, Krisis tried Leigh’s cell phone again. This time he went straight to her voice-mail, she’d switched it off. She was obviously sick of him trying to reach her.
He stood there for a while, thinking of ways to fix the hot mess on his hands, and he frowned darkly when he remembered his conversation with his sister. She’d called him soon after Leigh left her place. He’d almost died when she told him Leigh knew everything, not just about Thornton, but about her parents too and the background check he’d done on her.
With a, loud, frustrated snarl, Krisis kicked the tires of his car and slipped inside, impatiently tapping his fingers on the steering wheel. He was worried sick about Leigh. In her condition, it wouldn't do to be upset, that's why he'd avoided telling her about Thornton.
He knew it didn’t look good for him; he had lot of groveling and explaining to do. If only she’d pick up the damn phone or sit still long enough for him to find her through their blood bond. He’d tried to reach her telepathically, but with her being constantly on the go and her highly emotional state she was blocking him out somehow.
He started his car, preparing for the long night ahead of him. But he knew it was only a matter of time before he found her. At some point she’d have to stop moving…

Somewhere in the streets of Bridgeport...
Leigh drove around aimlessly for hours, trying to decide what to do. She didn’t want to go home; she was still too upset with Krisis. And she couldn’t go to Devon’s place either, that’s the first place he’d look.
She was on R69 when she saw the Hotel Rosa sign in her rear-view mirror. She made up her mind right there on the spot and did a U-turn.

Hotel Rosa, 10 minutes away from Bridgeport...
Leigh was surprised at how quick and efficient the receptionist was when she realized who she was.
“Will Krisis be joining you?” Amanda, Leigh made out from the name-tag on her chest, had a hopeful look in her eyes.
Leigh shook her head and declined to offer any more details.
“Please don’t hesitate to let us know if you need anything,” Amanda dumped the key to her suite on the desk. Leigh took it with a smile and a plea for privacy. She didn’t want to be disturbed.
Her room was beautifully furnished in creams and browns.
She could see why it was called the presidential suite, it was huge, bigger than the apartment she’d shared with Devon and it had all amenities and comforts to make it a home away from home.
She went to the bathroom to freshen up. The claw foot tub looked inviting, and she wasted no time jumping in.
She sprinkled the luxurious bath salts and bubble bath, enjoying the smell of scented candles lining the bathroom counter.
She needed this time alone, away from Krisis and Lily, away from everyone really.
She needed to relax and let go of all the tension she’d been carrying around these last few weeks.
A little while later, done with her leisurely bath, Leigh almost died when she left the bathroom and found Krisis sitting on the bed, staring at the door, as if he’d been willing it to open…

ReplyDeleteEloise - I don't blame her a bit for being key'ed up about Tamsyn's plea deal. I'd feel the same way, and with the justice system today, she may just get away with it! Always protecting the rights of the criminals and forgetting who the real victims are. I hope Dev can support her and help her get thru this.

I can see why El would be so upset since time in a psych wad is a slap on the wrist compared to jail time. Tamsyn did have a mental break which lead to her actions but I feel for El! She'll never get any peace until she is reassured that Tamsyn is paying for what she almost took away from her forever.
Is the media aware of Leigh's pregnancy?

He found her! YAY!!! Now let's see them get this stuff off their chests! Sure Krisis is right, the stress may be too much for her but the box is already opened and Pandora needs to be fed! No use in trying to hide anything now, just come clean! It was nice of him to let her enjoy her bath, I was surprised he didn't rush in there as long as he'd been looking but it was very smart; that would have only upset her more. Now she is (hopefully) in a calm state and can listen and talk things through rationally.

2.Hotel Rosa looked like a lovely place to stay, I bet it would be expensive to stay in that place, unless you're the pregnant girlfriend of sexy vamp rocker.*jealousy* I'll be happy to trade lives.
3.I agree with Dj, everyone knows Tamsyn planned the whole thing, what with fake identities and such, she may have a seerious case of C.B. but she did plan it, I'll be the lawyer for D and El, I'll prove she is crazy but guilty.

Devon will always be protective of Leigh, he's her big brother, and knowing their circumstances growing up, I think you'll appreciate why he's fiercely protective of her.
Eloise feels extremely blessed and lucky to have the most two important people in her life back in her arms. The only dark cloud in her otherwise perfect world is the case with Tamsyn. Blake is a beauty. I just want to smother him with kisses.

Weird, but Blake is Dev and Kristian's duplicate. He and Kristian look like twins, the only difference being their complexion and the different shades of blue for their eyes. I guess Dev and his sister have strong genes.

ReplyDeleteYeah he did, what would he do without their blood bond? They do need to talk, hopefully it doesn't come a little too late.
He knows Leigh very well, and you'll see in the next update just how well he does, with all the contingency plans he's put in place, if things don't go his way, so rushing into the bathroom and breaking down the door, wouldn't fly well with her. Besides, he wanted to keep the element of surprise the very last second. She was relaxed, until she saw him on the bed.
Dev and El make up for the lack of family moments in Krisis. Tamsyn did have a prexisting condition, but how much of her actions is due to it will never be known unfortunately and sadly she may not serve any jail time, and that's a reality El's struggling to keep.

ReplyDeleteYeah *punches air*, Victory, he found her, now he has a tough job ahead of him of convincing her to come back home. Lily has a full time Nanny, Patty, she was mentioned in previous chapters, and that's who's looking after her while Krisis and Leigh are running about town.
El and Dev need closure and peace and finding out El will be going to prison, will be great, but I wouldn't hold my breath on it.
That's true, Dev may warm up to Krisis once the trips arrive.

2. Thank you. It took me a month to build the hotel, it's the longest time I've spent on a set. And it def doesn't come cheap. But what the heck, Krisis can afford it.
