________
Bridgeport, present day...
That afternoon, while Eloise and “Leaving us already Ms. Sasha?” Thomas moaned sadly. He’d developed quite a uge crush on her these last few weeks, and she’d done everything in her power to discourage him.
“I’m afraid my mother’s sick, and I have to rush home, to
She slugged her suitcases in the back seat, along with her numerous shopping bags and sped off, glad to be rid of Thomas and his eager smiles.
Tamsyn booked into a motel, halfway between the bus station and the hospital. She was glad she’d only be spending a few weeks in the rundown motel. Two weeks from now she’d be on the bus to Riverview where she’d pick up the baby’s birth certificate. She had found a shady character online; his fee was hefty, but everyone in the secret forum she’d found him through, agreed he was very good at what he did. She’d called him the moment the baby made his big debut and she’d already transferred a deposit to his bank account.
She took out a huge shoulder bag from one of the shopping bags, stuffed the overcoat inside, along with the baby carrier, and Susan’s access card. She’d swiped it that afternoon when she’d hugged her just before she left. Susan would only realize it was missing when she had to report for duty in three weeks when she returned from her annual leave, and by then Sasha Nielsen would be long gone.
Over a dinner of pizza, she went over her plan a million times, thinking and rethinking, scrapping off ideas and working in new ones. She knew she had only one shot at success. If she messed this up she would go away for a very long time...The past few months, she’d watched the pediatric ward carefully, she’d paid special attention to the mothers bringing their babies in for their initial checkups. Eloise’s initial appointment was scheduled for 14:00 pm, on a Wednesday two weeks from now.
She’d worked out her plan was guaranteed success if she worked between 13:50pm, and 14:00pm, just before Eloise had to go in and see Dr. Mason, and provided Eloise showed up early for her appointment. All in all, she had ten minutes for the operation.
She gave herself a minute to get inside the waiting room dressed as a pediatric nurse, and pretending to be Susan. She’d snatch the baby from Eloise under the guise that she had to check the baby’s vitals before they went in to see the doctor. It would take her 45 seconds to make her way from the waiting room to Sally and Yvonne’s supplies’ room where her large shoulder bag would be safely stowed away. She knew the room would be empty; the cleaners were both on toilet duty around that time.
Another minute and a half would go into changing into her casual clothes, another 30 seconds to strap the baby onto her. Luckily for her it was winter, and she wouldn’t look odd in the heavy overcoat safely covering the baby when she left the hospital. She’d have three minutes to leave the pediatric wing, through a different exit leading directly to the emergency room, and make her way to the emergency parking lot where her car would be parked, and another three minutes to drive to safety before Eloise realized something was wrong.
She looked at the time allocation again, and again, and she felt ten minutes was not enough to pull it off. She was cutting it closely. She tried to rework her plan, but she couldn’t; she’d gotten rid of the extra fluff already, and she couldn’t make any more alterations, but what she could do was work on the time it would take to change from the nurse’s uniform into her own clothes.
She put on Nurse Smith’s uniform, and quickly pulled it off, before throwing on her street clothes, strapping the baby sling on her and wrapping the overcoat around her. She checked the time on her wristwatch; she’d taken 01:45s.The second try she brought it down to 01:25s. That was too long too. The fifth time it was 00:55s, and after the tenth try, it seemed 00:55s was the lowest she could take it. She’d spared a few seconds, still not enough, but every bit helped…
For a long time Tamsyn lay under the covers. She was exhausted, but she couldn’t sleep. She tossed and turned, and counted sheep, but her brain wouldn’t shut down, and sleep remained elusive.
After an hour or so of trying to trick her mind to shut down, she gave up and got out of bed. She walked to the window, and opened it. The cold winter air drew a shocked sigh from her, and she rubbed her arms, trying to get rid of the goose bumps on her arms.
She looked up at the sky and watched it turn an orange-pinkish hue, as dawn gave birth to a new day, signaling the beginning of her new life with her son…A new life which

She has it all down to a science and that is the really scary part! God Please don't let her get the baby!!!! I am really surprised she gave up on Dev so easy instead of some plan to get rid of Eloise so she can have Dev and the baby.
ReplyDeleteShe's about to reap the fruits of two months of preparation. Dev's made it clear to her how he feels, but she'll be the only person the baby knows, and he'll love her unconditionally, that's her thinking.
ReplyDeleteThe working of her mind seriously scares me!
ReplyDeleteI hope that what she told the landlord of her going to Sunset Valley was indeed true, if so she slipped up without realizing it and left a trail for Dev.
I have no doubt that she will pull this off...but she is going to wish she hadn't even been born when Dev finds out...
The woman is mentally disturbed and very dangerous. You have done such a good job showing us that Freedom.
ReplyDeleteI really hope she doesn't pull it off, but she's just crazy enough to do it I'm afraid.
