Summary: William takes a trip down memory lane...
________
Bridgeport, present day...
Hours after their meeting with Krisis Frost, William Thornton was still in his office, trying to get his head straight.
He left his chair and began pacing the room…
The Council wasn’t pleased. They were worried he was growing soft, allowing his familial instincts to overrule his head. He’d had to threaten and blackmail and dredge up secrets from all their pasts just to ensure Krisis and Krimsyn walked away from this mess with their lives somewhat intact.
He knew this last stunt had left a dent in his relationship with the Council members, especially Joanne. Come election time in three years, everyone on the board would push for his dismissal.
For years he’d cleaned up after Krisis and Krimsyn. They were rock stars, and ran into trouble with the law a lot, their heinous crimes ranged from assault to drug possession, and every time he made their stinking mess go away. Of course the twins assumed they had a pit-bull of a lawyer to fight their battles. They didn’t know about the silent power behind the pit -bull.
The hearing went well, all things considered. William thought as he rolled his shoulders, trying to alleviate the tension on his neck. But he knew it wouldn’t be long before Krisis was in trouble again, and all because of his human.
“Fucking humans!” He swore furiously. He hated the filthy lot. Because of just one! The one that stole his heart and ran away with it…
He fought hard, and tried his damnedest to resist, but the rush of memories won, and William found himself drawn back to the past…
217 Years Earlier...
Though he looked thirty, at 453 years when he wandered into the small, sunny town of Sunset Valley, he felt his age.
He was tired of watching a thousand sunsets through the glass, and never get to enjoy the warmth of the sunrays on his cold skin. Tired of trying to find meaning in his empty, infinite existence. He was jaded and fatigued. He’d given up on life and love. Given up on everything… Until his world collided with that of Margaret Frost’s.
Humans were only good for one thing: snacking on. But when the barmaid, stopped at his table and placed his drink in front of him, something changed in that half second.
“You’re new here, aren’t you?” She asked softly, brushing her long hair away from her face.
His tongue felt like a slab of concrete in his mouth and he couldn’t form any words, so he settled for a mute nod.
“I’m Margaret Frost,” she smiled sweetly, and waited for him to say something, but he had no idea where to start.
“And you are?” She laughed at his awkwardness. Somehow he found himself laughing along with her.
“I’m William…William Thornton.” He gripped the edges of his seat tightly, trying his damndest to ignore her fluttering heart and the millions of thoughts swimming in her head. She was intrigued by him, her thoughts told him so. He didn’t know why that excited him so, but it did.
In a cloudy haze he watched her run a dainty hand through her fiery red hair. He saw her lips move, but he barely made out what she was saying. He guessed correctly though that she wanted know if there was anything else he wanted, to eat, that is.
Something alien flared in his heart at that moment. It bothered and disgusted him, but somehow it still managed to keep him enthralled.
He made the mistake of staring straight into her eyes, and suddenly he had the strange sensation that he was drowning in the blue, icy depths, and only her smile, showing off her perfect pearly whites pulled him to safety.
His body surprised him when he grew hard just thinking about her warm, translucent skin, tucked underneath his body, her crimson lips whispering words of love and endearments in his ear.
“No!” He croaked harshly. “Nothing else!” Margaret looked at him for what felt like eternity but he knew it was a mere second, a worried frown creasing her perfect features.
For some inexplicable reason, she seemed to linger, and he silently willed her to walk away, convinced any second now he’d throw her over his shoulder and take her back to the inn and have his way with her.
“Suit yourself!” She retorted, before moving on to attend to other patrons…
The next evening, William was waiting outside, for her, when the pub closed. He wanted to walk her home. And maybe talk.
But when she rushed from the warmth inside the pub into the cold night air, she was surrounded by her friends.
He was bitterly disappointed when she barely paid him any attention as she passed him, and for a long time he stared after the small group, his eyes, focused on the object of his desire, watching from a distance, and admiring her ethereal beauty from afar.
For weeks he stayed away from the bar. But his thirst for Margaret Frost grew tenfold. A trail of bodies, drained to death, sent shock waves throughout the small town.
The town's people grew uneasy, females with red hair and blue eyes, aged between 18 and 25 years were warned against being out alone at night…
A knock on his door disturbed his reverie.
“Yes!” William barked.
“Sir, can I get you anything before I leave?” Celina, his PA, poked her head through the small crack on the door.
How about some peace of mind for a start? William almost growled, but he shooed her away instead.
“No thanks Celina. I’ll see you tonight.
He wasn’t surprised when heard her make her way deeper into his office and he resented her for knowing him so well.
“It must be a relief to know they’ll be okay,” she murmured, running her hands on this back.
He stiffened at her touch, and shrugged her off, but she firmly held her own, refusing to be discarded with a mere flick of his shoulders.
William knew Celina would love to be more than just his PA. She’d made that very obvious on more than one occasion, and he guessed he was about to feel the full force of her ambition again.
“Yes, it is a huge relief. Krimsyn takes after me. She’s as tough as nails. It’s her brother I worry about. He’s soft, generous, and emotional, more so now with the human in his life!” He replied.
“And it will only get worse if he does have younglings with her,” Celina finished his unspoken thoughts.
“You’re right; she is his weakness. The Council knows it too!” He added softly.
He dropped his length on the couch, and Celina followed suit. His meeting earlier with the council was a distant memory as they kissed and touched, and it wasn’t long before her hands were fumbling with the zip on his pants.
As his PA knelt in front of him and got down to the business of releasing his pent-up tension, it was a different pair of lips William fantasized about...
“Yes!” he groaned his encouragement when her soft lips enveloped him. He took clumps of red hair in his hands, and he flung his head back, baring his fangs, enjoying the sensation of Margaret’s warm lips and expert tongue on his throbbing arousal.
William couldn’t believe how quickly things had changed between them. Ironically, the fear gripping Sunset Valley, the fear he’d unleashed on the town, had led her straight into his arms.
Getting Margaret to submit to his charms had not been easy, but he had persisted, frequenting the pub almost every evening, making conversation with her, and getting to know her better. It had not taken long for their conversations to move on to other places.
Their courtship had begun as innocent meetings between friends, brought closer by her fear of the predator lurking quietly in the shadows. But within a mere few weeks, it was obvious to William where they were headed. He couldn’t say he loved her, but he cared enough to want to spend a lot of time with her. Cared enough to stop his reign of terror on redheads who were unlucky enough not to be her.
“Was that good?” Margaret, her bright blue eyes feverish with desire, came up for air when she felt him grow limp in her mouth. She pushed him gently onto the bed and nestled her small frame beside him.
William thought about her question as he sat in a post-coital coma. It was more than good. It was incredible. He had known many women in his 453 years, and he had lost count of the number he had bedded, but he knew none compared to his human concubine.
Sex between them was pure fire. Her blood tasted as sweet as he’d imagined it would. Margaret didn’t know he was drinking from her, and he felt some guilt for compelling her. But he just couldn’t resist or stop, she was like a drug, the more he drank her blood, the stronger his need for her grew.
But he had promised himself he would come clean with her tonight. “Love, there’s something you should know,” he murmured, his arms tightening around her.
“What is it William?” She asked, raising herself up on her elbows, her long, luscious curls falling around her face, reminding him of the beauty of a sunset.
“I’m a Vampire!” He announced, and closed his eyes tightly, dreading her reaction.
Margaret didn’t take the news well. Vampires were vermin, savage creatures her mother, Lily Frost, had warned her about, lots of times. There weren’t any in Sunset Valley; at least that’s what the town’s people had thought.
She connected the dots, and very quickly. The bodies drained of blood. The reign of terror unleashed on the town. It all connected, and it all led back to him. Everything had started around the same time he had moved to town.
Margaret boldly confronted him, and seeing his one chance at redemption, William stupidly confessed, hoping his honesty would put him back in her good books, and they would work things out, and he could carry on drinking from her, with her permission of course.
He hadn’t realized how much she meant to him, until that moment, in all her naked fury as she stood over the foot of the bed, screaming her guts out.
Accusations flew around, and they were mostly from her. He’d duped her and used her. Seduced her with his good looks and charm. Mesmerized her with his ethereal aura. And he couldn’t deny it. It was all true; he was a social predator by nature. He took all her accusations in good stride.
But when she went as far as suggest he had sexually assaulted her, that’s when he put his foot down. Everything, with the exception of drinking from her, had been consensual. But no matter how hard he tried to explain his side, Margaret still saw it as a violation. He couldn’t say he blamed her. If he’d told her the truth from the start, she wouldn’t have felt so violated, and they probably wouldn’t have gone this far, and that’s precisely why he’d kept quiet about his little secret.
Margaret left a while after that, but not before she proclaimed the hatred and disgust she felt for him. Soon after their fight and knowing full well Margaret would tell her parents and the town’s people, and a war would be declared on him, William left Sunset Valley.
But every few weeks, he’d drift back, unobtrusively watch her house, and admire her from afar.
He was there when she discovered she was pregnant and she artfully spun the wool over her parents’ eyes, and lied about being sexually attacked by a Vampire. Just like he was there, watching outside her bedroom window, when she gave birth to their twins. He heard her clearly when she named them Krimsyn and Krisis.
He was also there when she left town a week after her father’s funeral, six months after the birth of their beautiful babies.
Over the decades that followed, he watched over Lily Frost and his precious younglings. He would sneak out of the shadows to leave pints of blood on her doorstep. William often smiled at the surprised look on her face when she would open her front door and find a week’s supply of fresh blood on her doorstep every Sunday without fail.
Lily would look around her curiously, trying to catch a glimpse of her Robin Hood, but she could never make him out, safely hidden in the shade of her Willow trees…
“Was that good, Mr. Thornton?”
“Yes, Celina. Thank you! That will be all for tonight!’ William firmly closed the lid on his past, as he straightened and zipped up his pants. Through hooded eyes, he watched her walk to the door, her shoulders set in a disappointed fashion; she’d hoped for a romp in the sheets.
“When will you tell them Mr. Thornton? I think they are lucky to have you for a Sire. And maybe if Krisis had a father figure in his life, he wouldn’t be so erratic?” She asked curiously, turning from the door to look straight at him.
He glared at her, trying to control his red-hot rage. It was bad enough she knew about his children, and now she was trying to get him to reach out to them.
“They’ve done well for 216 years without me! I have no desire to let them know anything, Celina! And it will be in your best interest to keep your nose out of trouble.” His PA frowned at the threat laced in his words.
“Of course Mr. Thornton. Anything for you!” She closed the door softly behind her...

I love this backstory, such a surprising twist.
ReplyDeleteSeaweedy, I'm thrilled. And thanks for pretending to be surprised. I know everyone knew by now William and Krisis are related :)
ReplyDeleteThis was an incredible history I was just mesmerized, you did an excellent job with the images so I don't know why you were stressed! The period clothing and buildings everything felt real! I can't believe though their history!! It's just...beyond EPIC!! Amazingly detailed and a great plot twist. I wonder if Krisis felt it though looking at him that day...the stare down lol. I'd love to see if he'd be in their lives now though. I think they deserve him, he seems like a great role model and it made me go "aww" the way he spoke about Krimsyn lol too bad he wasn't really there in their lives :( very sad.
ReplyDeleteExcellent update Val! Well worth the wait and please stop stressing over your stories, you are an amazing author!
Krisis has no clue they're related. He didn't sense it, and he will not pay William a moment's thought in future. Krisis guessed correctly though that Thornton is the man pulling the strings.
ReplyDeleteAt this stage I can safely say Thornton will not be involved with Krisis and Krimsyn. Playing a silent role in their lives suits him just fine.
He's mighty proud of his daughter. It may be sad that they were denied a father, but Lily did a great job raising them, she more than made up for the lack of relatives/parents in their lives.
Thanks for reading.
fuesoetbro erhaiheciwaheioarboverbsodghosfbseigbrog...
ReplyDeleteRoughly translated...
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
I didn't know that... Now I do...
Trust you to make me laugh, Leah. But I must admit, when I saw that first line I thought you were cussing me out or something. Still not convinced you aren't.
ReplyDeleteReally? Really? You had no clue? No idea at all that they are related? Right, I believe ya. LOL.
OMG OMG OMG - their FATHER????? I thought maybe some distant relative, or someone who was once in love with a distant relative - but their FATHER???
ReplyDeleteThat scowl-off is awfully different now in light of this news! I have to go back and look at them giving each other the stink eye in that office! I know you don't believe me, but color my mind blown. Daddy. OMG.
Poor Celina - Slick Willy isn't giving her any lovin' tonight! It's pretty huge that he trusted her with that secret - I wonder what it will cost her to know it!
Jill, you're such a good sport for acting surprised. LOL. But yes, he's daddy dearest.
ReplyDeleteI guess the scowl explains a lot.
Slick Willy doesn't want to give her any loving period. He does fine on his own, but he won't say no to any female advances. You know what they say about PAs and secretaries, they know more than the wives most of the time. William does trust her, but if she does decide to start talking it will cost her dearly. It's not such a big secret if the Council knows he's their daddy.
Again, thanks for reading and your kind comment
What a great twist. I first didn't like him, but now that I understand him better I kinda like him and his reasons. Great chapter!
ReplyDeleteDutchy, welcome back :) Hope your vacation went well.
ReplyDeleteReally? You didn't like Thornton? Why? Anyway, I'm glad you're slowly warming to him.
Thanks for reading.
Vacation was good, but I got a bad case of the flew, so the last couple of days were pretty heavy.
ReplyDeleteI don't know why really, hihi. I just thought he was a really cold guy and was another bad guy in the making. Well, he is a little bad killing all those humans, but we forgive him because its fiction. ;)
I think with a haircut he would be hottie.
~ This was a complete shock for me as well...I mean I had a hunch there was some blood connection between them but not that he was their father!!!!
ReplyDelete~ Why does William being a bad boy just suddenly change my views on him...I guess it is true that women just can't resist a little bit of that break all the rules, take what you want bad boy persona.
~ I loved the history and the back story you created in weaving this twist into the story! And William and his little PA...naughty naughty... ;)
You would think that after what...80 prompts now and so much good feedback you would stop being so judgmental of your work...but I understand how it is... You really need to believe in you writing its amazing...you know what I said I would do if I seen you talk about your skills like that again *pulls out a chair for you to hide under* :) j/k
~ Excellent prompt...no amazing...no amazingly excellent!
Dutchy, glad to hear the vacation went well. Hope you feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteWell, he is cold, and judging from his past, he does has some bad in him.
I love his long hair, but I've played around with a few short hairstyles in he looks good in that too. Maybe in the next season he'll get a makeover.
NyGirl,
ReplyDelete-lol. Yeah, daddy dearest :)
-So you do like them bad. LMAO!
-Thank you. William's character was created right from the start, but in season 1 I just didn't find a gap to squeeze him in.
LOL. I'll hide under the chair now. It's been such a weird week for me, and I've been feeling down lately so if I sound like I'm moaning about my pieces and Krisis as a whole, I apologize. I don't want attention and I'm not seeking any. It's just that something strange and unsettling happened and it threw me off the loop. It will take some time for me to get back to my usual chirpy self. But I'm hanging in there, hoping I don't get swallowed up in the process.
Thanks for reading.
I guess I must be the only one who didn't see this coming lol. I had no idea he was their Father, but it's a brilliant twist and the back story was fantastic :D
ReplyDeleteKim, LOL. I kept hinting in my commentary in the previous prompts, that the Council's decision might not be bad, and in the prompt on justice, I dropped a clue that someone in a position of power was controlling the whole outcome of the hearing. I guess I was vague, so don't feel bad. LOL.
ReplyDeleteGlad you think it was brilliant. Thank you.
I didn't understand the back story until I realized that Margaret Frost was Krimsyn and Krisis' mother. I think it is fascinating how everything seems to be fitting together. Events and characters that seemed to be just background are becoming major parts in the story. I'm really liking it. Now onto the actual comments of the chapter.
ReplyDeleteI loved the way you described his obsession with Margaret. Even now, it seems that he still reaches out for her. Especially with that fiery scene with his assistant. Whoa, that was hot! I'm sad that his honesty led to the end of his romance with her. I guess I could understand if you were her. She did just sleep with a vampire who had murdered several women and compelled her so he could taste her blood. I still feel remorse for him though.
Especially since after all these years he still thinks about her and he still watches out for his children. I know that William wants to keep his connection with the Frosts a secret, but I think that the truth will be eventually found out. I can't wait for the next update as always and may I say, I absolutely loved your sets and costumes in the flashback. It looked very realistic and believable. :)
Brookeshire,
ReplyDeleteI'm so thrilled it made sense for you in the end. I didn't mean for it to be vague or mysterious or random. I'll be honest, doing flashback scenes makes me want to run the other way, but with William's storyline, I didn't see any other alternatives.
I'm super stoked that everything, the events and the people, are making sense, and they tie together now. The last thing I want is to have a story full of people who do nothing to drive the plot forward or develop the main characters in any way.
You're right, after 217 years, he's still not over her. She'll always be the one that got away. LOL @ "fiery scene". When it comes to sex he goes through the motions, and always escapes to his private little world full of Margaret Frost. Since her, he's never allowed himself to get attached to any female, and none of the women he encounters will ever come close or measure up to Margaret. He sees a lot of himself and Margaret in Krisis and Leigh. LMAO, you thought it was hot? You've never commented on the steamy scenes before, so I'm almost falling off my chair.
The truth does not always set you free, and William learned this the hard way. Margaret's reaction is understandable, she was devastated and rightfully so. And I can understand your feelings of remorse for him. He's not a bad person, circumstances made him that way. He loves his children to bits, and there's nothing he wouldn't do for them, and you're right, nothing stays hidden forever. The truth has a funny way of revealing itself.
Thank you so, so much, for your continued support, and your lovely comment on the sets and the costumes. I don't know how many sites I had to dig through to find the right costumes and sets. I wish I could take credit for it all, but none of it is mine. I should actually link up everything I use on Krisis.
Again, thanks for reading.
Val, I was completely riveted here. Astonishing revelations and an enthralling flashback. I was hoping to see more William, and wow, was this a great look at him.
ReplyDeleteHats off to William for having such a detailed, thorough flashback during a BJ. *snort*
So, he is the father of the twins, wonderful twist, again, proving your amazing storyteller skills in spades.
Well done Val on so many levels.
And yes, William is fascinating as hell. And hot. *sizzle*
Karen, thanks. I'm glad you found it riveting. I hope you're not disappointed with the William you saw. LOL.
ReplyDeleteWell, PA isn't as good as she thinks she is in the matters of the sack if he can have a detailed flashback about another woman while she's ministering to him. But seriously, that whole BJ scene with his PA, reminded him of a similar scene with Margaret, and once he started on the path of his memories, he couldn't stop.
Yes he is the father. Thank you, but honestly speaking, I think everyone figured that out before this prompt was posted.
Again, thank you.
Sadly, that was the end of his storyline in this season.
Thanks for reading.
"Something alien flared in his heart at that moment. It bothered and disgusted him..." LOL! this reminded me of the Grinch for some reason.
ReplyDeleteAny ways, I caught up to this and I'm happy I did. This chapter got a bit raunchy there for a moment haha
I like this William character though.
Aeon, I'm sorry, I don't see the connection between that line and the Grinch. Am I missing something?
ReplyDeleteI did put up a warning, before you even get to the prompt precisely for that kind of comment you made. My work is rated mature for a reason, and if you don't feel comfortable reading it, I'll understand, and by all means you're not "forced" to read it or comment on it, but such comments about "raunchy", etc, I will not entertain, or apologize for my work and what I write.
Thanks for reading and liking William's character though.
I'm late because Blogger was being a jerk but now I can and shall comment.
ReplyDeleteSee, that's why I'm s attracted! Because the hotness that is William produced the SEXINESS that is Krisis!
Now I fully understand the chip on his shoulder when it comes to humans. He never saw himself as being in love with her but he clearly was. If he wasn't, telling her the truth about what he was wouldn't have mattered and he wouldn't have drifted back to check on her.
I have a feeling that if William met another human that peaked his interest, he'd fight it but no doubt carry at least half of the feelings he felt for Margret.
Maybe had things not ended the way they did, he'd understand Krisis' love for Leigh.
I LOVE EVERY DETAIL and the level of REALNESS in this prompt. This is not Twilight and not always rose, rainbows, sunshine, and shit! And for that reason I love this and will always be a loyal fan!
I get a chance to read this and I see you've posted another! Oh Well! LOL!
ReplyDeleteWell, well, well...what a surprise! William is Krisis and Krymson's father! Who Knew!
I loved his back story...and NO, it was not too raunchy.
I have a feeling the PA isn't going toheed the warning.
Oh noooo! I didn't say or mean raunchy in a bad way at all. Not that it was too raunchy for me because I doubt anything would ever be too gory, explicit, or raunchy for me.
ReplyDeleteQui,
ReplyDeleteThat's okay, you didn't have to comment again, but I'm glad you did.
LOL. Like father like son, I suppose.
I'm glad his reasons for "disliking" humans shone through in this prompt. He did love Margaret, and it was just too bad that he based their relationship on lies and deception from the start. Had he been honest, things might have turned out differently.
True, he just hasn't allowed himself to get to close to any humans. That's just it though, he understands his love for Leigh so well, because he was once there, and it didn't end well for him, and he's afraid it may very well end that way for Krisis and Leigh.
Thank you, that means so, so much to me.
Holley, I'm glad you don't think it's too raunchy
ReplyDeleteYeah, he is their father, and I think everyone knew, or rather guessed they were related. I'm glad you liked the backstory. If PA knows what's good for her, she will heed his warnings.
Aeon,
ReplyDeleteThanks!
No wonder why Krisis and William are just hot <3
ReplyDeleteDamn those guys have a special place in my heart :P Why can't he just tell him.. no wonder why he hates humans so much.. now Krisis is going down the same track.. hopefully will see a few babies and crosses fingers he will turn Leigh.. he has too eventually.. now we won't have to wait so long ;D
Glad the vampire council spared his life for now, hopefully Krisis doesn't get into anymore trouble if William's not in the top job!
I loved how you captured the memories. Anyone would be scared and creeped out.. The chapter was so beautifully done <3
WOW! I absolutely adored this chapter, the sets for the flashbacks looked so phenominal i was just instantly transported to exactly where you wanted me to be! And i genuinely had zero clue about the twist of himbeing the twins father ~ Just brilliant!
ReplyDelete....I'll admit that I got to the picture of Margret with the peppers. Val you should see the expression on my face right now, if this is headed where I think it's headed I'll just roll over and die. Your awesomeness will kill me....
ReplyDeleteOMG!!! William is such a sweetie!
ReplyDelete
