Summary: The truth is out in the open...
________
Bridgeport, present day
She stayed in her room the whole day, foregoing pancake day for a second Saturday in a row. She looked a mess, but felt far worse. She had been crying on and off and all because she had said no to him. She did want to move in with him. She was just afraid his proposal was driven by much more than he was letting on.
“Leigh? Are you sure you don’t want anything to eat?” Devon again. He and Eloise had been doing this on an off, on hourly intervals. One of them would stand outside her bedroom door and try to persuade to come out of her room. But she wasn’t budging.
“I’m not hungry.” She croaked, and immediately buried her face in her pillow. The truth was she was hungry, but for Krisis. She hadn’t spoken to him since last night when he’d proposed she should move in with him. He’d been calling on and off, but she’d ignored his calls.
He’d said he loved her, but why wasn't she ecstatic? Maybe because she knew he wasn’t telling her the whole truth. His proposal had come out of nowhere, and the way he’d said he loved was just weird. It was almost as if he was trying to hang on to her. Reaching. Afraid of losing her. But why?
She was going insane, over thinking things. She glanced outside her window. It was so busy out there, not as chaotic as inside her mind and heart though. But she’d rather be in her room, in her safe haven, than out there, going out on a limb for Krisis.
There was something wrong between them, she knew it. She just wished he’d trust her enough to tell her what was bothering him. After all they’d been through, she was hurt and amazed there were still things he didn’t want her to know. He was keeping secrets from her.
________
She was sleeping, and he dropped on the bed next to her, and put his arms around her. She turned and smiled sleepily when she met his eyes.
“You came,” she whispered.
“You were ignoring my calls.” He explained.
“You’re lying to me,” she got straight to the point. She’d decided she could sit around and burn in her misery, or she could snatch the truth from him. The latter made more sense.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to. There are things I’m not proud of, things which happened before we got involved.”
“Is it a groupie?” She asked, assuming it was some scandal connected to his career and she’d have to brace herself for the media backlash.
“No…I'm not into groupies Leigh. They mean nothing to me! I love you," He explained. She waited for him to say more, but after a while of silence from him, she forced herself to face the ugly truth.
"Who then?" Her voice was barely above a whisper, and she could feel the tears sting her eyes.
"It’s Jacqueline. She’s pregnant, and it’s mine,” he confessed. He closed his eyes, wishing he could block out the sound of her heart breaking.
"Who then?" Her voice was barely above a whisper, and she could feel the tears sting her eyes.
"It’s Jacqueline. She’s pregnant, and it’s mine,” he confessed. He closed his eyes, wishing he could block out the sound of her heart breaking.
“When?” She asked.
“The night I ended things with her. Three days before you came to me.” Krisis informed her.
At least he hadn’t cheated on her. It happened before they got involved. Talk about bad timing!
“So what do we do now?” Leigh murmured, more to herself. He was having a baby. With another woman. Dr. Jacqueline Steinberg. Devon was right.
She could feel the wave of hysteria getting ready to sweep over her.
“I don’t know…She’s keeping the baby. She confirmed it today. I didn’t want to tell you last night because I wasn’t sure about her decision---”
“I’d like you to leave now,” Leigh cut him off. Her voice was so polite, almost as if she was talking to a stranger. He could take her anger, and hurt any day because he knew how to make it right, but this cold indifference was new to him and he didn’t know what to do.
“Please,” she added when it was obvious he wasn't leaving.
“I love you Leigh, and this is not over. I’ll be in the baby’s life. I’ll raise it, but I don’t love Jacqueline. I love you, only you. I’ll be back for you!” He promised as his parting shot.
In the kitchen, he glared at Devon , silently willing him to pick a fight. Oh he was ready for one. But Devon just stared at him blankly, while Eloise bid him farewell.
One day, soon, they’d come to blows…and he couldn’t wait. But first he had to fix his shit with Jacqueline, and then come back for Leigh.

~Poor Krisis he can not put a foot right, the problem being he wants to do the right thing by everyone involved, he tries too hard with Leigh & over analyses everything!
ReplyDelete~ At least Leigh knows the truth now,but will she accept it?
~ I loved it VAL!(",)
That was heartbreaking! I can't even describe what I'm feeling right now! I know that pain to well and just the thought of this being a game to Jackie sets my blood ablaze!
ReplyDeleteThis isn't over. Can't be. They were drawn to each other long before they admitted it. They're hearts longed for each other the second they met. This is just a hill they need to climb. Not one ahead of the other but hand in hand, side by side.
Lovely and full of emotion!
Leigh must be in bad shape if she is foregoing pancake day. She has good instincts however, something IS wrong. Good for Krisis for coming clean, that last shot of him leaving was heart wrenching, well done!
ReplyDeleteI could feel MY heartbreaking here. :(
ReplyDeleteBut it only gets worse before it gets better. I am right, right?
-Karima, you're right about Krisis, he does want what's best for everyone, including Jacqueline
ReplyDelete-You know what they say though, sometimes ignorance is bliss.
Qui, I promise this is the last time I break your heart. Or maybe not :)
ReplyDeleteKrisis thinks it's not over, and he seemed pretty determined to come back for her, so I don't think we've seen the last of Krisis and Leigh. That will piss Jacqueline off, seeing them climb that hill together, but you're right, they need to work through this together.
Karen, she is. Two Saturdays in a row can't be good. She was right to listen to and trust her instincts. At least now since it's out in the open, Jackie won't have anything to taunt Leigh with. And that was just a lucky shot. I caught him just as he was blinking. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteAw, Leah. Sowry.
ReplyDeleteYou're right. Indeed it does.
I would like to see them stay together but I don't blame Leigh, it is a very complicated situation.
ReplyDeleteSeaweedy, it is a messed up situation, and it will only get worse as Jacqueline's pregnancy gets worse, what with all her demands. Thanks for reading.
ReplyDeleteAhh. At least that horrible secret between them has come to light. Hopefully, with some time and Krisis proving to Leigh how much he loves her and intends to stay together, they can overcome this.
ReplyDeletePoints to Dev for laying low and letting his sister handle this. That has to be hard for him!
It'll be a hard road, but I hope Leigh decides this man is worth it.
Oh gosh. So much has happened in the span of what...? A couple days. I had a feeling that Leigh wasn't going to be so understanding about Jacqueline and the whole baby business. I had a very strong feeling that she was going to keep the baby and I guess Krisis confirmed it. I just can't wait to see how this develops. It kind of sucks that Krisis and Jackie are vampires. Krisis is stuck with her and their soon to be child forever.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad he told her! I know Leigh is going to be ok though since in her analysis of what he said she did think about how it happened BEFORE they were together. She just needs a little processing time.
ReplyDeleteNow Krisis on the other hand, wanting to fight Devon, not ok. Yeah they are really cold and dislike each other with a passion, but Krisis...you don't want to go to blows with Leigh's brother ESPECIALLY after the shit storm you just laid on her door. Great job keeping your cool but fighting Devon should be the LAST thing you EVER think about!
Devon I have to say is about to get out his "I told you so" pants and dance on Leigh (not really he loves her too much to do that...just sounds funny to me). I really hope he can help her through this since he knows how much she cares for Krisis and stop with the "big brother - I know what's best for you" stuff (again I know that's going to be hard to do).
I am absolutely thrilled that he told Leigh at least about what's going on. (I hate that he is about to have a kid with another woman though even though I don't hate Jackie).
Hmm...what else...oh yeah Krisis is hot!!
HAHA
Sorry if I rambled and thank you for the update. I couldn't make it home for lunch but it was a pleasant surprise when I did come in. :)
Oooh I finally caught up to this story again. (Did I mention it is amazing how you update this seemingly daily and the quality of said updates as well?) any ways I like where the story is going, I feel bad for both of them. OH! and also i'm looking forward to any such clash between Devon and Krisis haha.
ReplyDeleteJill, I couldn't agree more. It must be a huge weight off his shoulders.
ReplyDeleteIt was hard for Dev to keep his cool, but one day soon the two of them will kill each other I bet.
Mhh, let's hope she does. Thanks for reading. We're done to ten prompts, and it will be a rap by the end of the week I think.
Thanks for reading.
Qui, LOL. I get you, Jackie's not your fav person. True, a real woman does know when to walk away, but Jackie is carrying his child, she can't walk away. They'll always be tied together, no matter who Krisis chooses to stay with.
ReplyDeleteBrookeshire, yep, Krisis has no sense of time, so hours and days, and weeks just blur into each other. But true, so much has happened, it's no wonder Leigh sought refuge in her room, it's too much for her to deal with.
ReplyDeleteIt is sad for all around, but such is life, they'll have to make lemonade with the lemons they all got.
Thanks for stopping by.
Daijahv, yeah, good for him for coming clean with Leigh, he’s quite relieved that it’s all out in the open now. She does need to think things through.
ReplyDeleteKrisis loves fighting. He has the hotheaded trait. I don’t know how many times he rolls the wish to get into a bar brawl in my game. And when he does, he wins. But picking a fight with Devon would not have been wise, at all.
Nah, he wouldn’t. His talk with Leigh made him back off, and he’s not one to rub it in your face when he’s right.
You and Leigh both. It must the worst thing ever to go through…
LOL. You keep saying that. I thought you had the hots for Devon.
No, thank you for reading, and sticking it out. We’re down to the last ten prompts, and after that it’s a wrap…
Aeon, the prompts were all written for a while, I just put them up daily. I was going to do weekly updates, but since it's all done, I see no point in waiting, and I need to get back into my sims 2 story, Fallen.
ReplyDeleteYes, you did mention it. Thank you.
LOL, yeah, soon.
She doesn't have to walk away from the fact that they will have a shared responsibility but she CAN walk away from the idea of having him the way she wants.
ReplyDeleteAhh okay! Yeah that is a great way to do it haha. Still the chapters are great and each move the story along at just the right pace, and each feel packed with just enough drama and intrigue but not too much to leave you wanting more.
ReplyDeleteQui, I can't argue with that. She definitely can let him go and let him be happy with Leigh.
ReplyDeleteAeon, two comments from you in one day? Thank you. I try to keep it interesting...LOL.
ReplyDeleteI don't blame Leigh for asking him to leave. That's a big secret to have kept but they'll get through it.
ReplyDeleteJackie should be selfless and just let Krisis go. She shouldn't use the baby to keep in under her control. Evil woman.
Trish, Jackie, selfless? I think not. Thanks for reading.
ReplyDeleteIs there going to be a vampire baby? Or is Jacqueline lying? Jacqueline had better not be lying because I'm all excited, so excited I couldn't care less about Leigh's feelings.
ReplyDeleteIt's sweet that Devon is being the overprotective brother, but things might well be a lot easier on everyone if they tried to get along, rather then them waiting for a fight to happen.
