_______
Bridgeport, present day

He watched her rummage in his fridge, and he couldn’t help but marvel at how right she looked, standing in the middle of his kitchen. It’s like the place was meant for her. Within a few short weeks she’d become his haven, she was the only thing that made sense in his life, and he realized then he needed a lot of sense…That and stability.
“Move in with me,” he blurted, holding her gaze. She was nervous, afraid, and unsure of their relationship. He could see it in her eyes.
“Look, Leigh, you’re already spending so much time here. It makes sense that you move in. We could go to work together, travel in one car, and I wouldn’t have to worry about you and your car,” he forged on. He was waffling, buying time, backing himself into a corner. He did want her to move in, but he was avoiding talking about Jacqueline too.
“Is that why you want me to move in with you? So I can travel to work with you…” Her voice broke off, and there was a sudden hardness in her eyes. When it was obvious he wasn’t getting her anger, she explained, as patiently as she could.
“You move in with someone because you’re ready for a commitment, and you want to spend your life with them indefinitely. Not for some stupid car-pooling partner!” She snapped, before leaving the room.
Okay, that wasn’t the most romantic proposal ever, but he had good intentions.
“That didn't come out right,” he kissed her forehead, before wrapping her in his tight embrace. “I love you, Leigh. Please move in with me.” There, he’d gone out on a limb, said what he’d wanted to say for the past few weeks. If only there weren’t other issues weighing heavily on his mind.
She didn’t return his proclamations of love. She pulled away from him instead and began pacing the room. He’d learned not push her; she’d open up when she was ready.  She’d come to him when she was ready to allow him to shoulder whatever burden was pulling her down. So he gave her all the room she needed to do her pacing.
“Is that all that’s on your mind?” She asked after a while of silence.
This was it, his chance to come clean, tell her about Jacqueline. But what would he say? I’m going to be a father but I’m not sure if Jacqueline is keeping the baby? No…he’d wait until he knew what Jacqueline had decided. No point in agitating Leigh over something that might not happen.
“Yes, that’s all.” The first lie, he’d remember it always.
“I’m sorry. I can’t. I know people are doing it now, and it’s okay…But I can’t. It wouldn’t be right. We’ll be living in sin…” She cried before rushing upstairs to change into her clothes.
“I thought you're spending the night?” He frowned, watching her leave.
“I was…but I need my space tonight. I need to think.”
As he listened to her old car start and die a few times before she pulled away from his driveway, he wished he’d told her the truth. Somehow he’d messed up everything, and he was so afraid he was slowly losing her.
Across town, one couple was ready to live in sin.
“Move in with me,” Devon went down on one knee with an empty matchbox in his hand, pretending it was a ring box.
“Are you sure? What about Leigh?” Eloise asked. She was visibly shaken, and she could only wring her hands to keep herself from snatching the ‘pretend’’ ring box.
“101% sure. Leigh won’t mind. We’ve talked about it, and she’s happy for us. Besides she hardly lives here anymore,” Devon assured her.
“If that’s the case, yes…Yes I’ll move in with you!” She cried, and snatched the matchbox from his hand, before pulling him close for a kiss.
“Wow that was easy. I never thought an empty box of matches could excite anyone so much!” Devon smiled when they came up for air.
“I love you too. But you have to come with me when I tell Mr. and Mrs. Jones,” Eloise kissed the tip of his nose. Mr. and Mrs. Jones were her parents, staunch Christians, who strongly believed in good old Christian values. They would not take the news very well…

  1. When he didn't tell her my mind screamed "no no no go back..tell her the truth!!!!"

    When she left "big mistake!!"
If she is always there, why not? They love together, they sleep together, why not live together?

Dev and Eloise made me smile! That was too cute!

Loved this soon to be train wreck! lol

  2. Qui, I bet that's what his mind was screaming too.

Indeed it was a big mistake to let her go.

She would love to move in with him, but she knows he's not telling her the truth, his proposal was just random.

They are...they are my fav "it" couple now.

    Glad you did...

  3. I was kind of confused about the car-pool thing as well...it seemed like an odd thing to throw out there but I guess he is concerned about her old car and her safety.

  4. Seaweedy, LOL. You and Leigh both. It was an odd thing to mention, but Krisis wasn't thinking straight, buying time, doing anything, and talking about everything including nonsensical stuff like carpooling, just to avoid talking about Jacqueline. But yes, her car is a concern for him, esp since it broke down once before in the middle of the night. Thanks for reading.

  5. Right, he's just thinking 'lets be carpooling buddies!' im sooo sure! Awww about Devon and Eloise! He really REALLY needs to tell her that he's gonna be a daddy before she finds out from aomebody else...(the evil doctor woman i strongly dislike) Excellent chapter!

  6. Eni, yeah. I bet Leigh believed him...NOT. He really should have told her the truth. It's a big step for Eloise and Devon, thank God Tamsyn is out of the picture otherwise she would have freaked. Thanks for your lovely comment.

  7. Must...patiently...wait...until...next... prompt...

    Must...stop...lying...to...myself

All kidding aside, day by day I love Krisis more and more. He should be shirtless much more often.

  8. Leah, you still love him? He chickened out! That's made him lose points in my eyes.

  9. What can I say...I blinded by love. :)...and I don't care I just like seeing him shirtless:)
    :) :):):):):P

  10. That cracked me up. I'll do a photoshoot of him shirtless, just for you Leah :)

  11. I got my wish and some Devon on top of that! WOOT yay for me :P

Ok so, I'm a little upset at Krisis right now. I know he is trying to protect Leigh emotionally, but if he truly loves her and knows she feels the same way, he should come out with it and hope for the best. They've been through a lot together, I'm sure she'll be understanding (at least I hope)

He needs to go over to her place, sweep her up, take her back to his place and explain everything! She's going to be EXTREMELY pissed when she finds out he lied to her on top of keeping this thing about Jackie from her! FIRST MISTAKE KRISIS DAMN YOU! Now it really WILL look as though he was using sex as an escape.

And Leigh, you're crazy! I'd carpool that sexy vamp in a second!!

I Eloise and Devon are so bleeping cute together!

  12. OMG I just read that Val YES! DO THAT! AND DEVON!! Both!!!! OMG!

  13. Daijaghv, two for the price of one. Nothing beats that special.

I think only Leah is pleased with Krisis today, and only because he's shirtless. I feel you. He made a big boo boo there by not telling Leigh. She will def think that's what he was doing, using sex to distract her. In a way he was though.

Exactly. Lies and secrets are grounds for a breakup.

She'd love to, but she knew his proposal and proclamations of love were done on the spur of the moment, that's why she didn't accept.

Yeah, Eloise and Devon, I can't wait to start working on their story fully :)

  14. Daijahv, hit me up with poseboxes, I'll gladly do it :)

  16. I kinda don't get Leigh when she said "we'd be living in sin" (which I assume she is referring to living with someone she isn't married to) when they are having premarital sex...

Kind of an odd choice of words for her.

    ReplyDelete
  17. -Ah! Karima was it that boring you had to Yawn? LOL.
-Not many people liked his decision.
-Will chat when you wake up.
-You're too kind. You always love whatever nonsense I throw your way :)
-Thanks for reading, as sleepy as you were.

  18. Daijahv, Krisis caught her off guard with his proposal. She wasn't thinking when she said that, she just wanted any excuse not to say yes to him. Of course she would love nothing more than to move in with him, sin or not. And you're right they are already having premarital sex, so that was just a flimsy excuse on her part.

Also, remember the prompt has to be based on the prompt word, it can be an idea or symbol or the word itself. And "sin" was today's prompt, so I tried to incorporate the idea of sin in this.

I also wanted to show the irony between Leigh and Eloise's situations. Leigh is not a staunch Christian, yet suddenly she's aware of what "living in sin" is, where as Eloise, has been raised by staunch Christians, yet she doesn't care about "living in sin".

  19. I thought this was an excellent use of the prompt word. A lot of people still regard living together as 'sin', so...it fits. Krisis has it bad, and that ain't good. Esp. if he keeps holding back some truths.

  20. Ugh, Krisis! Tell the girl! Go! Now!!!! TELL HER!!!!
Oh, this is SO going to cme back and bite him, and I'd SO love to see them living together. *sigh

So happy for Dev & Eloise! I'm so happy he found someone so in tune with him after that mess with Tamsyn. I don't fully think she's out of the picture yet - I don't see it ending well when she finds out...

Off to march in front of the hospital with my GIHTB sign for Dr. Jacqueline....

    ReplyDelete
  21. Karen, thank you. He does have it bad, and his half-truths will catch up with him.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Jill, LMAO. It's like you're sitting there with him, and begging him to come to his senses.

It will SO pain when it does come back and bite him.

Dev and Eloise are my drama free couple, for now...and I love them to bits. Tamsyn, mhhh, since her picture is still up, we aint seen the last of her for sure.

Poor Jackie, no one seems to like her.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Val you're killing me! When are they gonna find out about the baby!!!!

And I mean you're literally killing me! I had to tear myself away from the computer to eat last night, and as soon as I woke up I was reading again, it's two in the afternoon and I haven't had breakfast yet lol.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Well, this didn't go well :/ He needs to tell her, whether Jaqueline is keeping it or not. It seems to me like she would keep it just so she doesn't lose her entire grip on him, anyway. And Leigh deserves to know, Krisis!!
