_________

Bridgeport, present day

"I'm going to kill that sonofabitch!" Krisis's enraged cry resonated around the room, shocking Eloise and Krimsyn. He half listened to J.D. give him a thousand reasons why killing Vladimir was a bad idea, all the while  keeping an eye on Devon.

He was highly pissed and just as scared. A dangerous combination for a vampire. J.D. was trying hard to calm him, but at that moment he couldn't be appeased. Didn't want to. He was out for blood. Vladimir would not live to see another day.

He knew his clan was right though, they should just get Leigh and get the hell out of there. Get the authorities involved and let justice run its course.

But fuck justice. He wanted revenge!

He didn't need Devon's accusations, didn't need Krimsyn's disappointed glares, he had enough guilt to last him a lifetime. A lifetime he wasn't looking forward to without Leigh. He knew Vladimir was after her, knew she was in danger, and he still left her alone. He was thankful Devon had called when he did, otherwise he would never have known Leigh was in trouble. He'd thought she was home safe, or at least at her friend's house since that's where she said she'd go when they'd talked about Vladimir.
He'd tried reaching her numerous times only to find her phone off, and he'd bitterly jumped to the conclusion she was avoiding his calls. He'd assumed she didn't want to talk him and she'd meant what she said about him being her one night stand! He felt horrible now for being angry with her.
God, how could he have been so wrong?
Across the room, Devon was quietly mulling over the last fifteen minutes. The thick tension in the air was the only reminder of their battle earlier when Krisis and his clan showed up at his apartment. He couldn’t believe how quickly the vampire was healing. No traces of bruises on his face, no hint of the blows he’d dealt him…

Bloody vampire! He thought bitterly, resenting their very presence in his house, cursing the day Leigh took the job. They knew she looked like that dead actress, Laura Greene. They knew it would cause problems for her, but they still invited her into their lives, luring her with their insane amounts of money. Money worth shit if she wasn’t found. Soon.
They were wasting time, coming up with stupid plans. They knew Vladimir Schlick had her, and he didn’t see why they couldn’t just storm his castle or whatever shit hole he lived in.

But the vampires insisted on patience, and careful planning. When they struck, it had to be brutal, but clean. A mess would draw the attention of the vampire council, and that’s the last thing they wanted. Vladimir’s clan would also zero in on him and Eloise. They didn’t want to start a blood bath without enough reinforcement.

He rubbed his jaw, convinced there was a bruise there. Eloise sat crying on the couch, and the vampire woman, Krimsyn, was consoling her.

J.D. was speaking quietly with Krisis in the corner; heated words were exchanged between them. Devon saw something weird and unsettling flash in the vampire’s glowing blue eyes every time his friend mentioned Leigh’s name. Pain? Regret? Love? Everything? He hoped it was just the first two. There was no way in hell he’d let the bloodsucker near Leigh again…No way.
The doorbell rang, and Devon glanced at the vampire quizzically.

“Reinforcement,” Krisis mumbled as way of explanation when three more vampires walked into the room, at Eloise's invitation.

Introductions were made, handshakes were offered, but Devon declined. He wasn’t shaking hands with vampires. They were deceitful creatures who’d put his sister’s life in danger. He wasn’t about to go buddy- buddy with the filthy lot.
The one with the long blonde hair, Dr. Steinberg or something, hovered around Krisis, sniffing him out like a bitch on heat. And he knew instantly they were lovers.

The mother fucker was playing Leigh! Bedding her, yet he had his vampire lover!
“You sonofabitch!” He lunged at Krisis again, their bodies crashing to the floor.

Devon pummeled his fists on Krisis' marble face again and again, feeling his knuckles break, but still not willing to give up. In a heartbeat, their roles changed, with Krisis throttling the living daylights out of him now.

“Stop it!” Eloise screamed, and Krimsyn pulled off her brother.

For a long time the two men glared at each other, while Eloise continued with her sniffles. Krisis would have killed Devon if he wasn't Leigh's brother, and Devon would have done the same, if he wasn't a vampire.
When everyone had calmed down they settled around the dining table and worked on their plan, amidst glares and growls from Krisis and Devon…The two men knew it wasn’t over between them, not by a long shot...

  1. OMG! (This story has me saying that quite a lot!)
Now, on top of the tension of what's happening to Leigh, Dev had to see Krisis and his vampire lover? Can you say 'Volcano'?
    Off to read next prompt!

  2. LOL. Sorry, I'll try and not make you go "OMG" again Jill.

In Krisis' defense, he didn't do anything wrong, it's the vampire lover all over him.

  3. ~ I feel so sorry, for Krisis & Devon, their anger at not protecting Leigh, has turned into them taking it out on each other!
~ But it is because of Leigh that they both love, that they should use that energy in getting her back instead of attacking each other!
~ I do know Devon does blame Krisis, but a lot of his anger is at himself!
~ Then she shows up,of course it was always going to cause friction!
    ~ Loved it Val!(",)

  4. -Devon is highly emotional and unstable right now, and any foolishness, from Krisis' part will make him jump on him without a moment's thought.
-True that, if they could just put their differences aside, they'd work well as a team.
-Definitely, he blames all vampires at this stage, but a lot of his anger is directed at himself.
-LOL, we all knew this day was coming, she had to show up at some point.

  6. Figures Dev would go off like that when he realized that was Krisis' woman. Overprotective brothers!

I must say this because it wouldn't be right if I went one prompt without mentioning my love fore Dev (lol), but umm, the fact that he even took that chance with Krisis was kind of sexy! I like bold men lol!

I wonder if Jackie can sense what happened between Krisis and Leigh too.

  8. I don't like Jacqueline I'm team Leigh all the way!! As for Devon I he too ,besides Leigh's post traumatic stress, will be a step between her and Krisis as well. Dev really can't stand vamps now and Jacki there well Krisis should set her free because she isn't good enough for him in my opinion. :)

  9. Daijahv, only you would get excited over a brawl. LOL. I guess that's your mean and evil side coming out.

Okay, I'll let you catch your breath, Devon just seems to have pressed all your buttons :)

  10. Qui, he'll always be over protective of his sister.

You too? you and Daijahv should be thrown in one of those rooms you love so much, the padded rooms, and maybe you'll get over your crush.

Jackie knows what happened between those two, even if she didn't Krisis' actions speak volumes.

  11. Kristen, why did I get feeling Jacqueline won't have a lot of fans. Give her a chance, she may surprise you. It's the first time she makes an appearance, and she hasn't done anything bad?

Leigh will most definitely have a lot to deal with after this ordeal.

Nope he can't. If it was up to him, he'd kill the whole lot of them, especially Krisis.

  12. Daijahv, I thought so too. That look was priceless. I'll always remember it. ha ha ha. That is one mad math equation you have going there. I think Qui will help you figure it out. LOL.
