Bridgeport, present day...
They were at Mike's Cornerstore, doing some last
minute shopping for the triplets' birthday in two days.
While Leigh picked items
from the shelves and filled up the trolley, Krisis was up to his usual no- good
self; he kept trying to get her to give in to his proposal.
"Come on Leigh, tell
me you're not tempted," he nuzzled her neck and pressed his body close
to hers.
Leigh rested her head on
his shoulder, and sighed, it was a dreamy, wistful sound. She’d be lying if she
said she wasn't tempted. A secluded cabin in Sunlit Tides, away from everyone,
especially their noisy preschoolers, sounded like a dream. But the timing was
all wrong, the triplets were starting school in a week, she couldn't just up
and go and leave everything to Patty.
“We can't go right now,
but give me four weeks, and I’m all yours," she began as turned around
face him.
“And if you’re really
good, I might just throw in that skimpy bikini you love so much." She
added as she traced the tip of her tongue on the corner of his mouth. She felt
his smile on her lips before she heard his deep chuckle. It was the best sound
in the world, and she realized then how much she'd missed it. Over the past few
weeks, with everything they'd gone through, Krisis had laughed less, and the light in his eyes had dimmed a little.
"Okay, Mrs. Frost, I’ll
be extra good," he lowered his head and locked their lips in a tender kiss.
At that moment everything was perfect, but then his
cell phone had to ring, shattering their intimacy...
While Krisis was on the
phone with the band’s management, Leigh carried on with her shopping.
“Jay,” she squealed delightedly
when she bumped into J.D. in one of the aisles.
J.D. gave her a giant hug
and kissed her on the cheek. “Where’s Krisis?”
“He’s on the phone with
your people,” Leigh jerked her head back, indicating the next aisle.
“So Syn’s craving those,
huh?” She smiled at the pile of choc chip cookies in his basket.
“It’s weird,” J.D. nodded
his head and laughed, “With Michaela, she never craved any junk food.”
“Maybe it’s a sign you’re
having a boy,” Leigh said teasingly.
J.D. could see right
through her playful banter, she was fishing for the baby’s sex. “Nice try, Leigh,” he
swatted her arm playfully.
“How is she by the way,
aside from her cravings of course?” Leigh asked after Krimsyn.
J.D. assured her both
mommy and baby were doing great. The same couldn’t be said for Michaela though.
“I’m sorry,” Leigh
squeezed his hand. She wished there was more she could do for her niece. It
pained her to see her push everyone away, but her sadness was nothing compared
to the heartache JD felt.
“I’ve let her down, Leigh.
I failed her as parent,” his eyes were dark with sadness when he said this, and
Leigh didn’t know what to say to him. But he was hurting and she couldn’t ignore his pain. So she did the only thing she could think of, she pulled him
close to her and held him..
“You did the best you
could,” she cried over his shoulder.
“At what cost though,
Leigh? At what cost?” He asked.
Leigh didn’t need to answer that, it was a rhetorical question. They both knew the cost, a shit storm was on the way, the paparazzi were not letting up on Joshua’s death, and their interest had sparked that of Bridgeport’s Police Department, and the VIA. Thornton couldn’t cover this up, and they all knew it. It was just a matter of time-

Thornton couldn’t cover this up, and they all knew it. It was just a matter of time-
“So this is where you’ve
been hiding,” Krisis’ voice behind them pulled them back from the brink of
hopelessness.
“We were just talking
about our nephew,” Leigh turned to him with a smile.
“Ah, so it’s a boy?”
Krisis asked.
And J.D. shook his head;
he was determined to stay mum on the sex of his baby.
“I could just ask Ariel
you know,” Krisis taunted him.
“You wouldn’t dare,” J.D.
fired back. Before long the two of them were playfully wrestling each other on
the floor, and Leigh had a silly smile on her face as she watched them. Despite
the 400+ years between the two of them, they were still very young at heart.
With the silly smile still plastered on her face,
Leigh pushed the trolley towards the cashier. It was getting late, they had to
get going; Patty would be worried, and Ariel got restless if she disappeared
for more than a couple of hours, she hadn't let up on her prediction, in fact
it was all her daughter talked about lately.
She was just paying for her groceries when a man clad
in a ski-mask stormed in. It was so sudden, so unexpected, but she knew they
were all in trouble when she saw the gun in his hand.
“Nobody fucking moves!” He screamed as he flung the
duffel bag at the cashier and motioned at her to fill it up.
Krisis, just rounding the aisle with JD, tried to warn
Leigh, he tried to tell her to do as she was told; there was no reasoning with
a mad man waving a gun around.
But whatever she saw in the robber’s eyes must have
scared the hell out of her; she half turned, getting ready to sprint back
towards him.
But the robber didn’t give her a chance to get away.
That half second, between the time the bullet left the
chamber and hit Leigh on her back, was the longest of his life. Krisis wanted
to die when he saw the look of shock and disbelief in her eyes as she felt its
full impact.
“I said nobody fucking moves!” The man said in a
gentler voice, as if his earlier orders justified his senseless actions.
Leigh’s pained screams when she hit the floor were
his unraveling. Not caring at all about what the robber would do to him, he rushed to Leigh’s side. Every part of his brain screamed at him to kill the man, and he
would have, if he still had his glock, but he'd gotten rid of it because Leigh hated guns. He shouldn't have…
His sudden movement was the distraction J.D. needed.
He launched himself at the robber and wrestled him for the gun, allowing the handful
of shoppers to scramble out of the store.
As Krisis cradled Leigh in his arms he could hear
sirens in the distance. Help was on the way, but Leigh was bleeding out too
fast, and he knew she wouldn’t last long.
With his body shaking from rage and bewilderment,
he did the one thing he never wanted to do right from the start, he bit Leigh
in a bid to save her life, and prolong it for as long as he could.
The whole time he was forcing her to take in his
blood, he kept hoping he was doing it right, he’d never turned anyone before,
never wanted to, and even now it was still something he hadn't made peace with.
But losing Leigh wasn’t an option…
______
On a long stretch of road, just as the sun was setting,
J.D. broke his own speed record.
At some point he forced himself to slow down though,
he couldn’t see the road in front of him, it was blurred by his tears as he
listened to his best friend sing to Leigh.
“Drive faster!” Krisis yelled at him from the back
seat.
“I’m trying okay,” J.D. screamed right back at him.
“Jay, is that you?” Leigh asked weakly.
“Yeah it’s me baby girl, just hang in there, we’re
almost there,” he brushed his tears away again, feeling furious with himself
for breaking down.
“If anyone can get us there, I know it’s you,” Leigh
tried to laugh, but it came out in staggering breaths, and Krisis hushed her up
with a kiss.
“Save your strength love,” he kissed the corner of her
mouth, feeling his own tears mingle with hers.
“I’m so tired, Krisis.” Leigh cried weakly. He knew
what she was saying, but he refused to hear it.
“Remember what I said on our wedding day?” He asked
her, trying to distract her, and hold on to her for a little while longer.
Leigh, remembered his vows, but she shook her head no,
she wanted him say them again, she could listen to his voice forever.
“I told you that now that I’ve found you, I’m never
letting you go. So brace yourself, this is the beginning of our forever,
there’s no getting rid of me, Mrs. Frost.”
A solitary tear trickled down Leigh’s cheek then, and
Krisis brushed it away with his thumb.
J.D. cried
harder in the front. Their pain and bewilderment, their fears and hopes were
too much; they sliced through him like a knife.
Five minutes later, they were at the hospital and
Leigh, who was now unconscious, was taken into surgery.
Krisis tried to go in with her, but the doctors
refused, and J.D. had to use all his might to restrain him.
Krimsyn, Cameron and Michaela came to find them an
hour later, they’d heard on the news, about the armed robbery gone wrong at a convenience
store in downtown Bridgeport, Leigh was the only casualty reported.
Krisis, sitting with his head in his hands, had no
reaction to their arrival; he was too numb to speak, he couldn’t understand how
their simple store run could end so horribly wrong.
“What can I do to help?” His twin asked him as she sat
beside him.
He'd never really believed in God and miracles, but at
that moment he could do with one, and he told her this.

Michaela thought they should notify Devon and Eloise, they were still on honeymoon in Champs Les Sims. Krisis knew she's right, but he thought it best to wait until they knew more about Leigh's condition.
As the evening made way for the night, and they heard nothing from Leigh’s doctors, Krisis found himself bargaining more and more with God, making all sorts of promises just to trade to places with Leigh.
Three hours later, one of the surgeons’ who’d operated on Leigh came to find him. And when Krisis saw the smile on her face, he said a silent prayer of thanks.
Three hours later, one of the surgeons’ who’d operated on Leigh came to find him. And when Krisis saw the smile on her face, he said a silent prayer of thanks.
“Mr. Frost, the surgery was a success. Your wife is
resting now,” The doctor had barely finished what she was saying when Krisis
hugged her.
“Can I see her?” He asked sheepishly when he realized
what he’d just done.
The doctor looked hesitant. She explained that Leigh was
still unconscious and she wouldn’t even know he was there; it was better if he
went home and got some rest. But Krisis refused to leave without seeing her.
“Okay, but only for a few minutes,” the doctor
relented.
A nurse was taking her vitals, and another was checking the IV tube when he let himself into Leigh’s ward. When they were both satisfied she was resting comfortably, they left him alone.
He’d just sat down when the machines Leigh was tied to beeped an alarming sound, he didn’t have to be a doctor to know she was going into cardiac arrest.
He’d just sat down when the machines Leigh was tied to beeped an alarming sound, he didn’t have to be a doctor to know she was going into cardiac arrest.
Within moments the room was buzzing with nurses and
doctors.
One of them pushed him out of the room, but he could
see everything through the glass from the other side of the door.
Krimsyn and J.D. tried to pull him away, but he
refused to budge. He just stood there,
unable to part from his wife, hoping with all his heart, the doctor’s would
bring her.
As Krisis watched the doctors battle to save Leigh’s
life, all he kept thinking about was Ariel. Everything she’d predicted had come true. He should have pushed her harder for answers, he should have paid more attention, he should done something, anything, just to prevent this day from happening...
“I should
have known. I should have known this would happen!” A small voice kept screaming inside his head. But with Beau out of their lives, he’d
allowed himself to relax, falsely believing they were out of the woods. He
shouldn’t have.
The first defibrillator shock didn’t work.
And then it
was two. And then five. And by the seventh the doctors knew they were fighting
a losing battle, but like him, they refused to give up on her.
The tenth shock, the final one, failed to perform the
one miracle he needed.
“Call it.” Krisis lip-read the doctor’s words.
Through his tears he saw one of the nurses look at the watch on her wrist before breaking his heart with her announcement. “Time of
death 10:43 pm.”

Note: Volume 5 is a wrap. Volume 6 will commence in late November. Please do not feel obligated to read it, and if the serial has become a drag for you, I respectfully ask that you stop reading. I do this for my enjoyment and the few people that still find the story entertaining.
With that said, a big, big, big thank you to everyone who's read and commented on Krisis, your support has been incredible.
A special thanks to the guys in The Coffeehouse, you know who you are and what you do...
And to Karima and Fae, for the love and the light, always...

omg... leigh...is...gone???? I will be on pins and needles until season 6 is published!!!
ReplyDeleteYour story has captured and held my imagination from when i first discovered it and devoured the first 3 seasons in a day or so... I am so glad the story will be continued!!!
Kelly!
Delete*big hug*
Yes, she is gone. Sorry about the pins and needles. I don't mean to. That truly means a lot to me, to know you feel so strongly abt Krisis. I really do appreciate the sentiment. I have quite a few storylines I couldn't wrap up in this volume, so volume 6 will be focusing on tying up all the loose ends.
Thanks so much for reading.
Great chapter! and Leigh, dont you die on me! Cant wait for season 6!!!! :)
ReplyDeleteMalin, *giant hug* I'm afraid it doesn't look good for Leigh. Volume 6 is still a long way off. But I'm glad to see you excited. Thanks for reading.
DeleteOk,what have you done?
ReplyDeleteThanksfor reading, Lckygrl.
DeleteI will not stop reading. I love your story, and the characters. Thank you for lettting us know when you plan of starting Volume 6, and hoping that Leigh will be there as well, in one form or another.
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you, I'm hapoy you love the story and the characters. It means a lot to me. I love what you said, about Leigh being in the next volume, in one form or another. Thanks so much for your lovely comment.
DeleteIf I throw a tantrum will you post the next chapter, even if it doesn't have pictures I wanna know what happens so baddddd!!!!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter sometimes gets me with tantrums, so it might just work. And that sounds tempting, posting an update without pics. Thanks for reading Pixx.
DeleteOMG what a ending!!! Now I really want to read the next seasons. Val just forget about the negative trolls on internet and enjoy your writing :)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you sound excited about Volume 6. I am too. Thanks so much for your feedback and continued support.
DeleteYou're killing me here, Val. You are. No fair! *stomps foot like a child*
ReplyDeleteLOL! I suppose I'll just have to get over it and wait.
Killer cliffhanger. No pun intended. :)
LOL, sorry, I don't mean to. But November is around the corner. Thanks for reading.
Deleteso this chapter has left me speechless. :(
ReplyDeleteI can imagine, thanks for reading jazen.
DeleteOh no :( I can't think of a rational response right now.
ReplyDeletePerfectly understandable, thanks for reading.
DeleteI am disillusioned.
DeleteAll the world fell down in a heartbeat,
one sound breaking the silence,
one sound breaking everything,
the world shattered.
I can hear Krisis. His quiet deep regrets.
I wish I could take away
take it all away
the pain in your eyes today
I want to take it away
I wish I could see you smile
see your brightest smile
the pain in your eyes today
I want to take it away
I wish I could hear your laugh
your happiest laugh
the pain in your eyes today
I want to take it away
Dead inside. Dead.
Hollowed. Dead.
He had to watch her die. He could not save her. How will he manage, even knowing he has the children? When you lose your other half, can you really function? Regret upon regret will pile on and change the man who wears the cloak of regret.
Beautiful song Fae, it's like you read my mind, I'm working on the band's 6th studio album, I think this will be perfect for Krisis' vocals.
DeleteIt was heartbreaking for him to watch her die and not be able to do anything to save her, it was like Laura all over again, this time around though he might not have the strength to come out of it, he made Leigh his life, and now that she's gone, finding a reason to be a better person will be hard. But then again, he still has their four kids, so maybe they'll help him through this. You're right though, there'll be no shaking all his regrets.
......wow..... I don't know if I should say anything else at this moment!
ReplyDeleteThanks for reading, Aeon.
DeleteLove your optimism Leah. We'll see in Volume 6. Thanks for reading.
ReplyDeleteLol @ the last line. I love how convinced you sound. Thanks for stopping by Damion.
ReplyDeleteWHAT. THE. HECK. :O <----- my face for the entire last half of the update
ReplyDeleteThis is the ultimate cliffhanger. I think you've outdone yourself, Val. I'll be sitting on the edge of my seat until the next update, that's for sure.
You really know how to hook in a reader and I can't believe that any sensible person would not enjoy this. Pure honesty! I don't even read or write anymore like I use to, yet somehow this just keeps me coming back for more. It's stories like these that make me want to try to get back into writing and I'm currently in the process of trying to get a story with the sims started. But knowing how I procrastinate and how long it takes me to do things, I'm not sure that'll be anytime soon.
Leigh is going to make it. It's not an option for her to be gone. Krisis can't live without her and to be honest, I can't either.
Kristen,
DeleteLMAO, I can imagine your shock, sorry. I promise I won't pull another one like this in the next volume.
Thank you, I was really worried about this update, especially since I'm not good at cliffhangers.
I really do appreciate all your feedback and support, and I hope you do start your story and get back into writing. Start of small at first, nothing too complex or overwhelming and you can build up from there.
You're right, Krisis can't live without her. The doctor seemed pretty certain she's gone.
Thanks so much for reading!
~ I finally catch up again,& what just happened,a broken Krisis & Leigh dead!
ReplyDelete~ No,no,no,no......................NO!
~ Did not just happen! I refuse to believe this!
~ I will reread it & the party is still on,& Leigh & Krisis are setting it up with the family milling around!
~ Love it,but I am very sad!Loves always! <3 (",)
-Yay, you caught up. I'm so happy. Now I wish your headaches would leave you the hell alone so I can see more of you.
Delete-I feel your pain, you were there when these two were born.
-Yes, there will be a party...but maybe not the one you have in mind.
Thanks for reading, chat to you on FB.
Wow, after all Beau's plotting and schemes, it was a store robbery that got Leigh. *cries*
ReplyDeleteYou know I always hope for last minute miracles, so my fingers are stlll crossed...
I'm looking forward to volume 6, Val!
Yeah, sometimes life has a funny way of working out, both Krisis and Leigh didn't see this one coming,in their minds it was always Beau, not some random robber.
DeleteThanks for reading.
oh for gods sake can't them two ever catch a break!!! I refuse to believe she's gone!
ReplyDeleteI'm wondering about Ariels' prediction.....she did say Leigh would die...but to a vampire die doesn't mean gone and Krisis did try and turn her to save her...I'm hoping what could happen will happen...sitting on pins and needles.....edenz~
I think they've had a very good volume, this is something they knew would happen. And I like what you said, that what could happen will happen. Krisis would like that. Thanks for reading.
DeleteNOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!WOW that was a pretty intense chapter Valpre...It puts me to mind of a TV show here in the states called True Blood....the suspense is killing me slowly.....urrrgggghhhh....I'm so anticipating on next season's update... p.s. I don't ever think I'll ever get bored reading ANY of your stories...I've said it many times, you are indeed very talented and definitely have skills..I never get bored reading I'm officially hooked... :D :D :D
ReplyDelete*hugs* I always get giddy with excitement when I hear from you. I loved the 1st season of True Blood, but I haven't had a chance to watch the other seasons.
DeleteSorry about the suspense, I didn't mean to end it there, but if I'd carried on the chapter would have bee unusually long. Thank you so much for your feedback and encouragement, it really means a lot to me, and I'm so thrilled you'll be around for Volume 6.
Again, thanks for taking such an interest in Krisis, it really means a lot to me.
NOOOOOOOOO!!!!! I can't believe a trip to the store would end in such heartbreak. I have no words.... WOW!!
ReplyDeleteAw, Kim, *hugs* I can imagine your shock.
DeleteThanks for reading.
Hi,
ReplyDeleteI'm in a middle of volume 4 but i couldn't stop myself to read this episod.
I shouldn't have read that because now i'm very very sad.
I didn't think she could die like that.
WOW! I just read all your atory over the past couple days, and i am amazed.
DeleteYour a fabulous writer! I dont think i have read anything so amazing! There is so much i would love to say, but that would take to much time! All your characters are amazing and they all have twisted love stories! I am still shocked by Leigh's death, but i have a feeling she will come back, alot like krisis *wink wink*
Im sorry for not writing on the other chapters i just got hooked.
Thanks for writing this, it is truely incredible. Chant wait for Volume 6!!! Im an hooked!!!!
Squeals like a fan girl @ Clarisse' comment. I'm so honored you stopped by to read my update. Thank you. And sorry for breaking your heart.
DeleteYay, a new reader! I always get so excited whenever I see a comment from a new reader, thanks so much for giving Krisis a chance, and reading through all the chapters. And a big thank you for your kind words, they really mean a lot to me.
DeleteYes, Leigh, it's a sad ending. Who knows, you might be right though, about her coming back.
Again, thank you so so much for reading and commenting on Krisis. Volume 6 will be up later tonight.
I still love reading your stories. Keep them coming, please :)
ReplyDeleteMisu, *hugs*
DeleteAnd I still get so happy whenever I see a comment from you. Thank you so much for reading, Krisis.
OMG!! Nooooo! Bring Leigh back!! :'(
ReplyDeleteLet Krisis' attempt to turn her work!! Omg!! I need Volume 6 like now!! But I'll wait patiently lol
Wow this volume definitely ended with a real cliffhanger...I can't wait to see what you have for us in volume 6. Really really great chapter! I can't get enough of Krisis
Trish,
DeleteOMG! You're still alive! Welcome back to the land of simming and Krisis. I saw all your other comments, they made me laugh and smile, so thank you for that.
I hope RL's settling down for you, I really do miss your stories.
Volume 6 will start tonight, and thanks so much for reading and commenting on this update.
*giant, giant hugs*
Oh my god wow! I've been reading your series for a few weeks now you never cease to keep m eon tenterhooks, I'm so dreadfully sad Leigh's gone... the kids, her friends *sobs*
ReplyDeleteJess,
DeleteThanks so much for giving Krisis a chance, it means a lot to me.
I totally understand your sadness, it was a sad update for me too. The 1st chapter of Volume 6 is out already, hopefully the ending will cheer you up.
Again, thanks for reading and for taking the time to leave your feedback.
I'm crying Val! Not Leigh! I just knew that after Carmen was gone she would be okay! I am so sad. I can just feel the pain that Krisis must feel. I can just imagine how hard it will be to tell the children that their mother is dead!
ReplyDeleteSo sad and you wrote it so well!
*hugs*, didn't meant to make you cry. Thanks so much for reading and commenting.
