Bridgeport, present day

“What the fuck is this?” Devon swore furiously, and threw the Dear Devon letter on the table in front of Eloise. She scanned it quickly, shaking her head over and over.

It didn’t make sense. It wasn’t like to Leigh to just up and leave, without talking to anyone. Her words were few and short. She needed time away, to think. Things had gotten too hectic for her, and she was taking some time off. She’d be traveling. She never did buy that car, and she’d saved up enough from her job with the Frosts, so she had plenty to tide her over. She didn’t know where she was headed, but she’d call them as soon as she settled down. She loved them both dearly. And could they please hand Krisis his letter too? She trusted they’d respect her wishes and not make contact with her.

“This is crazy. Did you know?” Devon turned on her now, suddenly angry with her.

“No. I didn’t. She seemed okay but I knew she was a little stressed over the baby story.” Eloise replied, trying to think back to the last few nights. Leigh had been unusually quiet, but she’d never said anything, never hinted she was going through some internal crisis.

Devon grabbed his phone and dialed Krisis’ number.

“Get your ass over here. Leigh’s gone!” He growled into the phone, and threw it on the couch. Eloise kept her distance. She knew she shouldn’t try to calm him down when he was in a state. He’d cool off on his own. The longer she hovered around him, the longer it would take for him to calm down.

As soon as Krisis walked through the front door, chaos ensued. Both men lunged at each other, rolling around the floor. A fist here, a kick there. More growling and groaning. More kicks and punches.

“Stop it!” Eloise screamed, and both men drew apart then.

Krisis was instantly on his feet, while Devon tried to get his bearings.

Remind me again not to get into a fist fight with a vampire. He thought, as he tried to sit up.

“Where’s Leigh?” Krisis asked. Without waiting for an answer, he ran into Leigh’s room. Eloise came after him, and handed him his letter.

He dropped on her bed, and read the letter over and over. She pretty much said the same thing she did in Devon’s letter. She needed time to think. She was confused. She didn’t think she loved him anymore.

“Bullshit!” He growled furiously. She was lying through her teeth. He tried to think what could have sent her off. Sure he hadn’t seen much of her these past few days, but he’d talked to her every day, and told her he loved her. But come to think of it she’d been subdued during their phone conversations, not saying much at all. He should have picked up on that, but he was distracted by the baby and Jacqueline’s demands.

“Jacqueline.” His eyes narrowed. He had a sneaky suspicion she was involved. And if she was he was going to break her fucking neck. He’d had enough of her bullshit…

“We’ll find her,” he assured Eloise as he hugged her when he was leaving.

“In one piece!” Devon glared at him, and he nodded before blinking from the room. Taking the door would slow him down considerably...

I thought this would be wrapped up on the 50th prompt, however it looks like it's far from over, so the saga will continue using the second prompt table...A little set up is in order, but the next prompt should be up next weekend, or the Monday after.
