Summary: Devon can't let go
__________
Bridgeport, present day
Devon dialed her number, but quickly hung up before their lines connected. It was two weeks since their breakup, and to say he was finding it hard to move on, was a lie. He hadn’t even made an attempt until now, when Sally, his colleague insisted they go on a drinking binge.
Everywhere he went he was reminded of Tamsyn, every turn he took, she was there, her scent, her smile, her laugh. He missed her horribly and if it wasn’t for Leigh, pointing out the flaws in their relationship, he was convinced he would have gone after her the same day she left. He wasn’t strong enough. He needed her. Without Tamsyn he was lost; he might as well be an island. See, he was even using, bad similes and metaphors!
Sally pulled up in her flashy sports car, waved at him when she saw he was on the phone, before rushing inside the watering hole.
For a long time he stayed outside, unable to bring himself to face the racket inside.
I really should have brought Leigh along. He thought, as he fought off the temptation to phone Tamsyn again.
Leigh would know what to do. She was like his bulletproof vest, his voice of reason, constantly reminding him to stop looking at Tamsyn through rose tinted glasses. Yes, things were great between them when they first started out. But towards the end they’d both changed so drastically they’d hardly recognized themselves, let alone each other. They got lost in the ugliness of their battles, stopped seeing the good in each other, and now they were both alone.
Inside Waylon’s he cheered loudly when Sally took the stage, drank pint after pint of beer, listened to the drunken conversations around him, but he wasn’t there…
A part of him wanted Tamsyn to find happiness, the rational part of him that knew things between them were irretrievably broken, and would never be fixed. But another part, the selfish part, the scared, lonely man, hoped she was bleeding as profusely as he was…

No, Dev, NO!!!!
ReplyDeletePut that phone away, unless it's to call Ashleigh to talk some sense into you!
LOL, Dev can't live without his Tamsyn. She knew he'd cave eventually.
ReplyDelete~ Devon,Devon,Devon, turning to that road is a wrong turn,.............a very wrong turn!
ReplyDelete~ Three pages Val,that's not more, that's less, but I guess it is some,so thank you, I loved this insight!
Karima, I know, this has got to be shortest prompt in history :)
ReplyDeleteAnyway, they should all be slightly longer from now on.
I just wanted to show how both Devon and Tamsyn are dealing with their time apart. Things should start speeding up from here, and we'll see more of Krisis and Leigh, not necessarily together though :)
What Jilly said! Tamsyn is a drug! One he CAN do without!
ReplyDeleteHe is a cutie too! I didn't realize it until I saw the side view!
I always thought Devon is cute...and J.D. too. Though he doesn't get much airtime.
ReplyDeleteWe'll see about him doing without Tamsyn, since she is so addictive. They've been together for quite a while so I think it's natural for them to be reluctant about letting go :)
I like Devon and Tamsyn opposites attract don't they? i think in the end they'll both help keep each other grounded. Tamsyn will help Dev stay on track and Dev will help Tamsyn open up and be a bit more loving to everyone. I think their love for each other is really special. I hope they work out their problems and get back together. :D
ReplyDeleteClaire, you made it over here :) Yay. Thanks for reading :)
ReplyDeleteI think you're the only Tamsyn supporter. Not complaining though, I think it's great seeing different reactions to the same character.
Yeah, they did share something special in the beginning, but things just spun out of control recently, and it would be wrong for them to pretend they don't have problems. But I wouldn't rule out the possibility of them finding their way to each other :)
Devon looks gorgeous in that hat, standing in shadow, and I can understand how he is feeling. You don't just turn off your feelings like that. But, hmmm. Wonder if he is on the rebound here?
ReplyDeleteI saw that hat in CAS, and I knew Devon just had to have it. It gives him something special...I don't know what, but there's something about the hat.
ReplyDeleteAgreed, Tamsyn's been a huge part of him for so long, he can't just turn off his feelings. I would be unnatural, I think :-/
Thanks for catching up on this, Karen :)
Dev is HOT! Poor thing needs me to hug him (note to self, make sure my TS3 simself is still around)
ReplyDeleteI am sad to see Devon so broken up over such a horrible woman, but it only means he is human. He cant just turn off his feelings. I hope he doesnt make the mistake of calling her, or getting back together with her.
ReplyDeleteWell, while he keeps hanging up I suppose there's no harm done. He's strong enough still to not actually go through with the call, and he should give himself some credit for that. Of course this breakup is gonna be rough on him. He loved her, after all, but he's smart enough to know that they'd never work. I just really hope he sticks to that.
